OK my resolution did not last long

Oh you're so weak-willed Geoff......:D

We've got moisture!!! not enough to dance in the rain yet but very very welcome!

Good night from Kuku Caryl :) Are you feeling better yet? hope so.

Hi Judy, so it's still your birthday then?

01-14-2013, 12:45 AM
Feeling better flu wise. Tonsils, while not sore are STILL inflamed and my voice is still deep and raspy.

Mean mean bug. Week 4.5 blech.

01-14-2013, 02:05 AM
Just got some news about my sister. She has decided to go into a hospice today.

01-14-2013, 03:28 AM
:grouphug: Judy :grouphug:

Good morning all. Damp and drizzly here but marginally above freezing

Nothing much planned for today.

01-14-2013, 04:01 AM
Sad news Judy

Blessedly cooler here today with cloud cover but still no rain. Work was a challenge but I think I have worked out how to sort it on the morrow.:crossfingers:

Garden desperately dry now. Cats dont want to go out for a nature ablution unless I'm around. Like I'm going to wrestle a python  Baby black snakes and thick tea towels ....OK. I didnt want it escaping under furniture. SO self interested. Me me me! I'm quite relieved that the cats are so cautious.

No AC but the house stays really cool until mid afternoon, then open the windows and let in the NE sea breeze which funnels through beautifully. On Sunday it didn't which is why I moaned and read. Still enjoying Jack le Crow, Nipper  We have a pedestal fan in our bedroom for nights. I don't like ceiling fans. To get a proper breeze they sound like a helicopter taking off. No point being cool and sleepless.

Not much else

01-14-2013, 04:16 AM
Morning again.....

(((((((((((Judy & sister)))))))))))............
((((((((((((the trainwreck that is JJ)))))))))))))

Snow still very light...still at 'pretty' stage......don't want more as have to leave about 0700 tomorrow to catch the ambulance from the home to hospital.

Pity I had the car washed yesterday!

01-14-2013, 04:24 AM

Meant to say Darla, Anaconda is a huge outdoorsy sporting physical activity selling warehouse with open doors that threw out beautiful cold breath AC that Saturday. No better place to stand and obstruct and eat the sausage sizzle.

01-14-2013, 04:26 AM
Oh dear, I posted in yesterday's wash :D

I went to the specialists today. I had the name of the specialist wrong, and even though I gave my name, the receptionist was adamant I didn't have an appointment there. So, I went back down to the main lobby, and phoned. "Oh yes, we do have you here". So, I go back up to the 7th floor. (I am not at all fond of elevators) The receptionist says, well if you had have given me your name. I smiled, shook my head, slightly, and sat down. Just as well I rang, and didn't leave. as the parking was 15$ regardless whether I stayed 10 minutes or 2 hours..

So. I got to see the specialists registrar, who took all my details, poked and prodded, and have me walk. He then went and got Dr Saxby, who came in long enough to write up a requisition for a MRI I am off to the Logan Hospital for said MRI, when they phone me with the appointment time. I am not holding my breath.

Dr Saxby, did mention, that he thought the tendon has pulled off the tibia, taking a chunk of bone with it, hence all the bone fragments. I had to take my Ultrasound, my xray, and my CT scan with me, and all they looked at was the xray. I said wouldn't the CT scan show more detail, and they poo-hoo'd it. Oh well, who am I to know. :)

Yesterday, whilst out shopping with Kim, she bought a new phone. A GalaxyII like mine. She is over the moon. She came over this afternoon, after work, to get me to show her how to use it. I have already got her hooked on Words with Friends, and DrawSomething. :D :p (Scrabble, is my relaxation) Monica plays on her iPod touch and iPad, so she is happy, now she can play with her mother. She is excited.

Geoff, how is your mother today? The canula would have been precautionary, considering her age. Is the snow heavy?

Doug, your attic is a treasure trove.

Judy, Happy belated birthday, and huge hugs for your sister, and Jack.

I am going to cook a nice fillet of Barramundi for my supper..

01-14-2013, 04:56 AM

How about this one trailer fans??

01-14-2013, 05:30 AM
Judy

Okay, this is doing the rounds on fb but thought I'd post it here for a laugh - going to the dentist will never be the same again! lol

01-14-2013, 05:35 AM
Good Morning all,
It is a little before 5:30 a.m. here in still dark and much colder Oakwood. We are back to normal temps for this time of year again after those couple of warm ones. :D All the snow is gone for now.

Larry and I are off to the dentist this morning for a checkup and cleaning. We go twice a year so we can keep our own teeth as long as possible. :D

Then this afternoon is my art class. I have a picture drawn of one of the orchid photos I took when we went to the orchid show last year. Hope I can do it justice.

Lots of interesting trailers in the Wash these days. I think I could enjoy camping in some of them, especially Don's new one.

Wishing you a Belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Judy!!! Sounds like you had a nice day celebrating it. Sorry about your sister being ill enough to enter Hospice. It is a wonderful organization though. They treated my Mom in the last day's of her illness. :grouphug:

Annie, Yikes, your own personal python....how exciting. Even though they are pests, I'd rather have the squirrels. Glad the cats have such confidence in you. :D Read once if you put a big bowl of ice cubes on a table in front of the fan it increases the cooling effect. Don't know if you can do that, but it might be worth a try. ;)

JJ, Glad you did the phone check. Of course it was YOUR fault the receptionist made a mistake... some people just have to blame everyone else for their problem. Hope these steps will aid in getting your ankle repaired soon.

Caryl, Glad you are finally feeling a bit better. Yep, this flu is a very nasty one. A young 22 year old Wright State student died from it in just a few days two weeks ago. So take care of yourself as you are doing and keep getting better.

 to Doug and all who are still on their way.

01-14-2013, 06:26 AM
Hello Everyone:wave:

A busy day for me today with must do paperwork, an appt at 2pm and slinging some paint around this afternoon.

I am doing a project that organizes your art inspirations/references etc., etc. I'm in an online group with others and having a great time with it.

Couple of interviews this week - one is at a nursing home - I may have to do some as needed or part time till things happen for me.

My son who lives at home is going to take a placement test later today for adult education program he is interested in --I'm hopeful.

I'm enjoying this season of Downton Abbey ---for those over the pond don't tell me yet what happens. I was so disappointed that the middle daughter didn't get married to the man she loved.

Have read a few washes so here goes:

JJ - Glad you got to see the specialist. Hope you get something scheduled for your ankle/leg. Your friendship with Monica sounds really special.

Phillip - My uncle lives in Tacoma Wash and I once visited and we went to Puget Sound lovely area. Enjoy your watercolor classes.

Sylvia --GREAT news on being cancer free:clap:

Char - Sounds like you had a time with the cold/flu glad that you are getting over it. A Happy Belated Birthday to TED

Nancy - sounds like you are all moved in to your new office space and glad that your mom is doing OK. Yes it is a big relief that dad is being taken well care of at the nursing home. A huge relief and now I can concentrate on what needs to be done in my own life.

Doris - WOW so sorry that you went through kidney stones. Have a friends husband who is going through that whole process now and it is sure taking time. Your cat is so pretty and I'll bet he is glad you are Home.

Bill - Your house is so pretty ---hope that tree didn't do much damage to your roof. I'll have to look up some info on Russian tomatoes - I can't wait to plant tomatoes this year. I love growing them.

Darla - I'm glad that your test is over and that the results are good. Hope your son is not sick with the flu. Are you taking any workshops this year?

Don - WOW that trailer is NICE. I'd like to find an old small one that could just be my playhouse in the back yard. My chick hangout:lol:

Judy - sorry to hear about your sister and wishing your husband well

Steve - sorry about your Mother but glad that you can be there

Henry - your cat is so pretty.

Kay - I know I love those Ikea tea light holders. We have an Ikea about 45 min away from us and I would love to take a Sat and go to just walk around.

Everyone else Hello and have a great week. I'm freezing to death here in Ohio with our temps to be in low 30's this week.

Take care

Good Day All,

We are expecting sun everyday this week but it will be cold.

JJ, I guess surgery will be necessary after all? So sorry. CT scans give off enormous amounts of radiation.

Geoff, looks practical to me.

Annie, do you feed the python to keep them happy and not thinking about the cats for lunch?

Lulu, a good addition to laughing gas.

Sylvia, Iím with you about seeing the dentist twice a year. Iíve done that for the last forty years and still have most of my teeth. Have a good checkup.

Anita, Iíve been recording ďDownton Abby,Ē and Iíll see it when I get time.

Iím expecting a visit from the tree removal company today. $$$$

I came on monday to office and found complete disaster. Nearly 11 workers have fast intestinal flu. They are all down from friday. All at office was desinfected and those who doesnt feel good have homeoffice today and tomorrow. I have to be there, but I doesnt have good feeling to be at place like that and it's only matter of time when rest of workers will get it.

On other hand, today is good day. I recieved photo of my new harp - it's small travel harp sized so well, that I can take it to airplane and light enough to take it anywhere. I have been planning and drawing this project for nearly half of your, still recounting string charts and refinish shape and size and now it is done with help of my friend - harpmaker. It's test project, so we dont know if this harp will works, so I will test this for some time and I dont expect good sound from such a small thing, but I hope it will work.

It doesnt have any finish yet, as I asked harpmaker to leave it raw, so I can do wood cuting and some painting on that. And I already have ready sketches and templates, but when I have seen this harp now.. it's so pure and clean and has so ideal and perfect shape, that I lost my courage to touch this harp with a knife. :-)

Here it is:

Good morning... Our temperatures in SW Ontario have fallen just below freezing and we're expecting a little snow... I'm not unhappy about that because everything is some shade of grey and brown for now.

With my Classes beginning soon, today, I do have a few things to do to get ready. We'll begin their next project which will mirror my workshop material at the Centre... but I have to get their Lesson Plans printed out for them so they can look over the material before next class.

Good thing you don't make New Year's resolutions, Geoff! We've seen a few of the bigger teardrop trailers in our travels... that one is cute as a bug's ear...

Kay, your Ikea candle holders are really pretty!

Lulu, those masks are hilarious!

((Caryl)) I'm sure you have been taking all kinds of stuff for relief... have you been drinking green tea with honey and lemon?

((Judy)) That's such sad news and I'm so sorry... I'm sure your ((Sister)) will receive excellent care.

Hi Doug, I'm sure that Ruth will help you find something to do... :p

Annie, even the vermin are looking for some moisture and food... It's so heartbreaking to watch your garden dry up. :(

((JJ))... Well... let's hope that the MRI shows something that the x-ray and CT scan didn't...

Sylvia, it's going to be fun painting the challenge of an orchid...

:crossfingers: for good interview results, Anita... and good luck to your Son, also in finding something he'll be excited to learn about...

 Ellen... Hi Bill!

Jana, your new harp is sleek and beautiful! I sure hope you don't come down with the flu... wash your hands often!

I'd better get to work... I hope that everyone has the very best possible day in good health and creativity!

01-14-2013, 08:39 AM
Hi folks! Been watching an amazing remake of Toy Story (http://www.theverge.com/2013/1/13/3873580/watch-this-an-incredible-shot-for-shot-live-action-toy-story-remake) using real toys an people.

Lovely new harp Jana, hope you will be able to carve and decorate it. Sanitise everything in sight at the office, phones, handles, keyboards especially :crossfingers:

You are one busy teacher Char.

Now 6C and still damp.

01-14-2013, 09:01 AM
Lovely clean harp Jana.......

Snow stopped for moment,it isn't too deep.

Making vegetable soup at present.

Hello Monday Washers!

It's COLD here and we got a dusting of snow last night and the roads were icy driving into work this morning. We have clear blue skies and sunshine. I ALWAYS feel better when the sun shines.

I have a slight headache but am going to take a couple of ibuprofen and that will take care of it. It feels like I may have slept wrong; a kink in my neck is what it feels like.

Judy, I'm glad your Birthday was great and so sorry your sister had to go in to Hospice care. They are, like Sylvia said, a wonderful organization; trained to keep the patient comfortable and pain free.

Annie, oh...THAT is what Anaconda is...gotcha!

Doug, I bet your attic cleaning is for sure keeping Ruth busy. Glad you enjoyed the human toy story!;)

((((JJ))) I hope you can get some help soon for your ankle and that it can be fixed. Sorry you've had such a time with doctors offices and doctors/nurses/receptionists.

Char, enjoy your time with your students today.

Jana, what a great idea for a lightweight travel harp! Will you patent it? A great invention; have fun decorating it! I'm:crossfingers: that you don't get the intestional flu; it's nasty stuff.

Sylvia, both Larry and I go to the dentist twice a year too; I want to keep mine as long as possible.

LuLU, those masks are so funny; what a hoot.

Anita, I'm crossing my fingers for you too that you can find a job soon.

Bill, yup...those tree services charge an awful lot of money for tree removal.:(

(((Caryl))) hoping you are on your way to feeling better; those nice breezes you are getting must feel good.

Geoff...that trailer would be way too small for me...although for a younger person it would be great. Enjoy your veggie soup; a good comfort food when the weather outside is frightful!

I have data entry work to do so I cannot linger; I'll be back later though.

Good Day Washers !

We had a bit of rain overnight and dropping temperatures so the sanders were out early this morning to de ice the roads. Cloudy and dull at - 1C. However, looking out over the back deck the grass is green.:)

Judy, a belated Happy Birthday. Glad you had some sister time. Sad news that she feels she needs to enter Hospice.

Caryl, 75 F sounds heavenly! You have been sick a long, long, time... Maybe another course of antibiotics sounds like your tonsils are losing the war.

Jana, :crossfingers: that your office has been sanitized enough that you don't come down with the intestinal bug... It has been going around here as well as the other two influenza viruses. Love your new Harp and can't wait to see what you do with it.

Geoff, that is one tiny trailer. Dan liked it but the interior was just a bit too confined for me. Reminds me of the MRI machine. :D

Speaking of MRI's JJ, hope you don't have to wait too long for yours.

Henry, you cat is beautiful !!!

Char, what are your students painting this session?

Lulu, love those dental masks... on the bit of moisture.

 to everyone else.

Jana, your harp is beautiful. I'm sure with your artistic abilities, it will be as beautiful to look at as to hear. I have plans to build one for my wife. But I need proper tools and wood.

01-14-2013, 10:04 AM
Good Morning Everyone!!

As forecast, our January thaw has come and gone. -3C which isn't at all bad but there is a nasty cold wind and again, duller than dull. I have come to realize that our milder winter temperature comes with a price - no sun:rolleyes:

I woke up in the middle of the night with sciatica pain, must have slept the wrong way. Since with me the nerve gets pinched in the buttock muscles rather than the spine (thank God!!!!) I have stretching exercises that will help.

I'll finish table tennis paper work this morning, then have to get Ethan's Xmas present from the post office and play table tennis later in the afternoon. Apart from that no formal plans, will fill the day with potsing around.

No point repeating what Darla and Char said so well, so "what they said"!!

Thinking about all our friends who are not well and sending good wishes!!!!

 to all of you and wishing you a good day!!!

01-14-2013, 11:10 AM
Thanks for the kind thoughts. It was a shock first of all to see her yesterday, as she looked really bad, and weak, and neice Betsy said she would take her in later to get her fluid drained. So when I got the news of the Hospice, it was both a shock and a relief, as she looked so bad. Her daughter has been a total rock, but she raised 5 children. I do think that the Hospice is good idea, she is not going to get better, and will get the kind of care that Betsy just cannot provide.

Thanks again.

01-14-2013, 11:50 AM
 Good day everyone! grey here too, Uschi, but no rain yet. I hope we will get the sun Char is hoping for. I had a good walk yesterday, got the sunny window in the day. I have a route marked out by the km markers on the rail trail, so I know it really is 2k. Always lots of energetic people on there, helps to keep me going! Doesn't sound like much, but I'm working up, do 3k down to town and back, and if I get really keen it's only 40k to the next town on the trail  So far, hips not complaining :crossfingers:

Sad but necessary, Judy, your niece is an angel to have had her home so long.

(((JJ))) I do hope things go more smoothly now that you are getting proper help :crossfingers:

Lovely harp, Jana, I quite understand, but you can paint it....Do let us know when you have a video on it we can see. I hope you don't get sick again.

Dentist  Lulu! I'm not sure about that, they might scare the pants of a little kid, and maybe me too :) I go twice a year also, have a major investment in my mouth, too bad it's not all gold, then the kids would get an inheritance! As it is, I'm with you, Nipper, I've spent it all and it was fun :)

Good luck, Anita, and to your son too!

Love the little caravan, Geoff, that I would like.....looks like it could be on any of our lakes here in Ontario, do you know where the photo was taken?

Have a rewarding day

:grouphug:  :grouphug:

01-14-2013, 12:17 PM
Hello all,

Well it's sunny and clear here. Haven't looked outside. They said on the news last night there were high wind advisories -- up to 60 miles an hour in some places -- not LA proper thank heavens. Clears out all the cloud cover, making it much cooler at night, but warmer during the day.

((((((Judy))))) and for your (((((((Sister)))))))))

((((Uschi))))) Hope the sciatica goes away.

Geoff that is adorable, but I'd feel a bit claustrophobic in there. By the way, loved that video link you posted. I was so amazed at the sound that came out of those instruments. That cello player is fantastic.

Darla glad you have sunshine. I know how it brightens your mood.

Anita I love to wander IKEA but it's too tempting to spend money, so I only go there if I really need something. Still spent more than planned.

Jana I love your harp. The white is really lovely and sleek, but I'd love to see your art work all over it. It would be so unique.

Sylvia I think I forgot to congratulate you on being cancer free for six years. Don't know where my mind is these days.

Lynn I did get the paper cut and on the board and drawn out, but no painting. I need to decide on a palette for this. My first attempt at a floral. Maybe that's what stopped me.

Had to clean out and bleach up the litter box yesterday, and while I'm at that I always scrub down the whole bathroom while I'm at it. Avoidance technique? Anywho -- I've noticed with a diabetic cat I go through a LOT of cat litter. Thank goodness for clumping litter. Diabetics tend to pee a lot more than average. Sorry -- hope that isn't TMI. Also watered all my plants inside and out. Keeps the outside plants from frost/cold damage. The inside ones dry out from the heat being on. Also did the marketing. And dishes. I seem to have used a lot of water yesterday. Oh dear.

Frustrating day of football (American). Seahawks lost, New England won.

(((((JJ)))))) I do hope all this will result in a great outcome after all this tsuris (that's Yiddish for a lot of mix-up and trouble).

Lulu I don't think I'd be able to keep a straight face if my dentist and his assistants wore those. Might make it difficult for them to get anything done. Maybe that's the point?

  to all I haven't mentioned and all to come.

01-14-2013, 12:37 PM
Hi to all

No snow here

Geoff, that trailer is like a mobile coffin with storage for the after life!

Jana, it will be interesting to see what you do to the harp

Back later

01-14-2013, 12:47 PM
I have been experimenting with Sketch Club on the ipad.

Here are a couple of quick 5 minute sketches:

01-14-2013, 02:13 PM
Doug I can see why David Hockney uses iPads...those are glorious pictures.

LynnM.....I don't know where they shot the pictures but it wasn't UK.

Snow is going but freezing now........

01-14-2013, 03:04 PM
Hello everyone,

A very grey and cloudy day here - which perfectly matches my sniffling, coughing, ache-y body. I believe it is a good old-fashioned cold and nothing more serious, but I am still feeling crummy.

Too sore and miserable to mention all by name, so let me please just thank everyone for the good words about my nephews OSCAR-nominated film [can you tell I am still so excited?].

Also wishing everyone good thoughts and hugs, even those who don't need it at the moment. :grouphug:

Gonna go take a nap and hug my cat.

01-14-2013, 03:19 PM
Hi again,
Yes neice (Betsy) is an angel, and strong! I know that my sister, Margaret, will be more comfortable at the hospice. She has been on chemo for almost 6 years, solid, so it really is not a surprise, but she looked so weak yesterday, it was a shock.

The trailer / caravan looks just like one I wanted when I was in my 20's now I'd like something a bit more lush.

Kay football was exciting! The 49ers won and the new quarterback was amazing! we will be going to Atlanta next.

01-14-2013, 04:04 PM
Good afternoon to everyone.

We now have free Wifi in our rooms.

Judy, I can only imagine what you are going through emotionally. Your sister will be in good loving hands.

JJ, I truly hope they can finally get your ankle fixed sooner tan later.

We just had a marvelous brunch. Now we will set off down the strip for the day. I had one nice jackpot, which I put away to bring back home.:D

Catch up later.

01-14-2013, 04:13 PM
Thanks Nancy, it is especially wrenching as I will be the last one, I was the youngest of 4.
