Hey very cool. I like that brush technique. How do you describe it?

Right now I dont have any critique, just enjoying it!

Thanks! I dont know, maybe you'd call it a kind of scumbling. I like to paint in thin layers and I use rags or my fingers a lot to dab the painted surface and make the transitions nice and smooth and more or less erase any brush strokes.

I guess that's why your signature is "I ruin a lot of good brushes" ;P

Cool work!

Lots of bright colours. Just twigged what the leaves are - explains the psychedelic colouring and the smoke. Arnie

Thanks Wahsuzy, I love your paintings too! Yes I do love my psychedelia Arnieb. This one is for a medical dispensary here in Los Angeles.

Yeah ok Dana thanks, I had a bit of trouble getting the photo to post so the third or fourth time I went around I must have forgotten to hit the bodies are gross button. ;) Cheers!
P.S. I love the cat helmet!

Huge head, or is that a hallucination?
Is there a smoking warning icon?
Sativa ? Indica ?

Sorry, have to comment again......I wish I could enjoy making art as much as you appear to, I think that's something I need to work on.

Thanks so much Debz, I'm really loving this piece too. And you're sharp again there Andrew. Yes, she does have a big ol' head. I think she's about 5.5 heads tall... I was modeling her after some old porcelain dolls that I've seen. I think it makes her look kind of cute, but hey, that's just me.
I do love making my art. I can pass 12 straight hours like they were nothing. It wasn't always like that though. I had to commit my self to the art thing about 2 1/2 years ago and make some sacrifices. But I feel good about it and I can see myself improving, so I think I'll stick with it.

You are very good at what you do.

Haha, Thanks! Still working, she's coming along I think.... But I'll still be glazing, darkening, tweaking, scumbling for another week or so.

Well, *I* don't think bodies are 'gross' but I have to be the butt police.

This painting is so very beautiful! Will look forward to its finish. I'm certain there is a market for this. Well done!

Good technique but I think her legs are too stunted. Maybe make them longer from the knee down.

Octopus Inc.
02-01-2013, 12:26 PM
I think if I extended her lower legs they wold be longer than the upper portion and that wouldn't be right would it? I think maybe it's her bobbly big head that's throwing you. Any attempt to conjure up leg to head ratios with this piece will fail. She's more of a cartoon than an anatomical study... but this is just the type of input I like to get from people. I think aesthetics are fairly universal, what one person likes so will another... Therefor I will continue to contemplate her legs with your observation in mind. Though, as she's now almost finished it's doubtful any big changes like that will be made.

Your talent just blows me away! I'd love to see what you could do if you actually enjoyed "making art". Still laughing over "bodies are gross button" and "smoking warning icon". ROFL

Hehe, Thanks! I like to joke around and throw out a bit of sarcasm from time to time... But I do enjoy making my art, I really do. I promise.
