A nice start - I would recommend a change in the shape of the landscape under the port wingtip - it follows the contours of the wing exactly (maybe that is already planned, and it was a paint out?). I really like the way you have done your highlights on the cowling - very effective.

The camouflage green may be a bit too viridian green - it was a duller hue than you show. Maybe you were aiming to do that anyway but I thought I'd mention .
Still a great looking image.

I understand. However i am thinking about the impressionist light-in the Shigeo Koike style. I didn't correct theses of the balance of white in photoshop. It is only such a play because my favorite artist is Roy Huxley.

I thanks for all comments. That's true, I like the box art style from years 60's, 70's and of 80'sh beginning (especially Roy Huxley). They had quite a lot of expression but now box arts are too technical, in years 90's of the ones started as if to compete with a computer graphic.Own an example of the Airfix company is adequate.

As usual, the airport - the base of the helicopters is nearby ( City Pruszcz Gdański). Possible that the pilot did such maneuvers in the winter morning. This is a picture of my friend who lived there. In the city of Tczew. It's a quick gouache. One day of work.

"de gustibus non disputandum" Mi-24D and M-346 are similar. Similar style - my style. But Mi-24D is a more traditional way but Master greater freedom. Mi-24 normal and M-346 brave. I did every of two painting works 1 day. It is also essential. I don't want to reconstruct reality. A great precision and an accuracy are boring me. I like the liberalism and the freedom. A tradition is boring me.

Thanks all for positive comments. Unfortunately, I have little time for painting.
But the pilot already. Andrzej Andrzejewski pilot survived the incident - hit a rocket 2K12Kub. But fate was cruel to him. Fighter pilot was killed five years later as a passenger in a crash Casa C-295M...

Slowly forward. First of all - little time for painting. Second - constantly checking information about the incident. Probably the right wing at the time of ejection, was pendent rocket SRCP-WR. The rest of the pylons was empty. One rocket exploded and destroyed the plane, the second rocket flew by but did not explode.

You need to wait ... I have some ideas for the future. Important will be background. Right wing, which will be destroyed. But all this must be in the background. Important things already are, and I can not break it. In summary are simple things to paint but conceptually difficult. Background is just a smear. Zero problems in painting. But what color, what intensity? Wing important but delicate. And yet canopy fired.

Shamrock15
03-02-2014, 08:47 PM
I think this will work out well Piotr. Having seen what you can paint, I have no doubts about the background. My only issue (really three related ones) concern some of the flame effects. While likely factual, I think the stablising jet from the top of the seat just reads wrong, as does the one that looks like it wraps around the starboard side of the nose. Remember that fire like that, being really bright, will obscure detail in the cockpit and require some really heavy shadows to show the intensity of the light. Looking forward to the completed work!

piotr22d
03-03-2014, 06:43 AM
Also wondering about this. You can blind the flames. For example, the HUD was blurry, could not see the details of the cab ... But this is my vision. Not the end of the photo. Many lights will determine the background. Only then will the effect.

Everything from old Polish, the Me 209, early Russian jets, I believe it was the Antoinette from the earliest days of European aviation. I really liked one of the bi-plane trainers (RDM something??). I like it and i also think the wind turbines give an indication of height and speed.

Shamrock15
09-15-2014, 07:23 AM
While I will concede they help establish height, they slow down the piece for me by giving detail outside the subject. I think the loose treatment of the colour does enough to give speed. A few farmhouses would be entirely appropriate in the piece and still give height without drawing attention away. The natural flow of the piece to the main 21 goes through the smaller one or through that farmland, and the wind turbines sort of stop that flow.

That being said, I still think this is an extremely striking piece!

piotr22d
09-15-2014, 11:04 AM
The free, expressive color has a show space. The second plan (turbines) does not have to show speed. Not in this case ... I painted turbines because they balance the exposure. In addition, a typical element in the landscape of the coast, the airport area Gdynia-Babie Doly - Polish base Fishbeds.

piotr22d
09-15-2014, 11:14 AM
Oh and do not forget that a photograph of the image, the digital reproduction ... The second plan is more contrast than the real image.

This place is on our list to visit on our next trip. It provides a nice backdrop to a classic. Didn't know that the 21's carried splitter rails for those dog-fight missiles (forget the name of them).

This rail is APU-60II M. For R-60MK missile. In Poland, was used on aircraft MiG-21bis and Mog-23MF. Figure complies with the specifications of the customer. He ordered a squadron commander were Mig-21bis. He flew exact copy No 0880th His good friend 1029. Aircraft were armed with 4xR60 and 2XR-13.

Excellent paintings, lighting is unusual and exciting.
I remember seeing a closeup photo of the rear turret of a Russian Bomber, with the occupant holding up a can of Coca Cola. I think the photo was taken from a QRA Lightning from Leuchars , but I may be wrong, I think it was in the 1960ís.

I like the Mig/ F15 pic - very good . One minor point for me - the afterburner on the F15 would start wide at the exhaust and come to a point as it gets further away from the aircraft . But the way you have shown it works well in the painting .
The sketch of the Mig and IL 28 has a real feel of being right there .

What made it more interesting was the fact that Real Coca Cola wasn't supposed to be available in Russia at the time

I think it's possible. Coca Cola and Pepsi were produced under license in Poland in the 70s. Also before the symbols of capitalism were popular in the East. By the way, let's go back earlier. Years of the 50th. Poland, winter, locomotive and Yak-23 ;)
