This is my first painting using flemish technique. What do yo think of the umber underlayer guys? This umber underlayer is almost completed. The most difficult part for me are the boy's shirt and the girl's hair. <label for="rb_iconid_9">http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/images/icons/icon9.gif</label>

should umber underlayer be done perfectly or this is enough and I can continue to the dead underlayer? Thanks

I think it's fine. Good luck with the rest.

Sure bring out the background and foreground now
Add what you are going to add in place of the umber

One question, have you worked up all of the darker shadows that you intend?

Without a reference it is difficult to comment on this

Good luck

Andrew

Hmm.. It seems that I want to re-paint this painting from beginning.. I failed on the dead layer stage.. Will post my new progression (in this thread). Sorry guys...

Ok, I've decided to do this painting over again. Hopefully, I paint with better skill and experience from my last painting, the forbidden love. I also upload my reference photo here. This is a free commission, from my FB friend. And I've decided to change the title of this painting a bit. It's "BEAUTY OF LOVE"
