Thanks Alan, may as well jump in at the deep end and post a pic on my second post
I am having a problem photographing work with my present camera, its either going too light or too dark, and eitherway seems to not register some colours and tones, causing some graduations to look very blocky. So for the time being Im afraid the images arnt going to be that great.

thank you Kathy for the kind comments, I used to do a lot of architectural drawing in the dim and distant past so I got kinda used to doing brick work. The two themes that will run through all my work will be buildings and water.

lol not quite, Ive done 3 watercolours and about 7 pastel drawings since starting back. In fact I started back with pastles and this was about the 3rd pastel drawing, I was just using my own old photographs, before the bug hit and I started getting out and about taking new photos for work.
Anyway thats all my buildings for now, until the weekend when I start the new one.
All the best.. Charlie

Hello Alan,
Thank you for your kind response.
All three images are created digitally using TrueSpace, a 3D modeling program. Objects are created and textured in the program creating a scene which is then rendered to create a final image. These 3 images were intentionally darker, an experiment to try and capture the first bit of light at dawn.
I put the rendered image in Paint Shop Pro and used the Virtual Painter plug-in to give it the soft look of a watercolor painting. This is saved as a new image. The final step is to use a 3rd program called sTile99. The "watercolor" version is again altered with another filter then layered with the original "watercolor" image that is used as a buffer. This gives the final effect you see here.
Falchion :)

hopefully Saturday if not then Sunday.. but my guess is start on Sat and either finish then or on Sunday. I dont actually spend that long on any piece of work and I get to a point after a few hours, irrespective of if it is finished or not, where I stop.
I admire people who work on pieces for days..weeks even, but thats not my way of working.. if its not finished within about 6 or 7 hours normally faster then its dead to me.

Hi ChasCreek,
I was just admiring your work including the photography. Lovely! I'm curious, are the falls in or near Hawkstone Park?
Falchion
ChasCreek
09-04-2003, 06:38 PM
hi Falchion,
thankyou for the compliment... the falls are in LlanRhaeadr-ym-mochant in Wales and Hawkstone park is near Shrewsbury in England, although they arent that far apart, I suppose some 30 miles or so (ish)
The falls are quite stunning when you are there, either side of where I was standing (which happened to be in the middle of the river on a rock trying not to slip off) are steep drops down to the river, covered in foliage the same as the falls, which gives the whole place a very lush feeling, and a very calming and peaceful atmosphere.
Glad you liked the photographs :)

I have 1 nit though - look at the door and window to the left of centre, they are on the same plane as the right of centre so that the perspective should also be to the left - I'm just reviewing pesrpective with my grade 10's, or I might not have noticed ....

I love the colours in this - such a great transition from one to another - was this begun with a motherwash?
Sue
Thanks, Sue...yes, it was done as a primary motherwash and then I decided what to paint....
Glad you like it

This is so beautiful! The soft greens draw me in every time, and when there's just a touch of red or rust, I'm in love!
Cathie
Thank you Cathie and Allan. When I posted it I realised that shadows need to be darker. It help to look at your image when it very very little!

Thank you Sue and Painterbear
I did it from a picture that I got online. Not sure if it ethical though.

I like the flow of the sidewalk leading into and around the scene. There is a cool feel about this suggesting autumn.
Sue
Thanks Sue and Alan, Glad you liked my painting of this pretty corner in Montreal. I think it was probably early Fall when we were there, Sue, that tends to be when we like to travel (or in the Spring), we aren't heat birds.
Alan, Thanks for the comment on my house. It is a neat house to live in, it suits us to a T now that we've had the kitchen totally remodeled. ;)

Not keeping tabs but with the time zone stuff I deal with I am on at different times of day and night My routine is check Email(business) then leave hotel drive 500 miles and visit dealers Check email and go to dinner Check email before bed and then when someone is too loud and ya cant sleep in hotel go oline again. (Boy do I need a life) and you seem to be on when I am or you have just posted. And I figured I was the only one with strange hours. I will be leaving Ms. tomorrow and arrive in Billings next saturday. I will see what I can do to get some pics for you.
