View Full Version : Little Dancer
I intend to do a series of traditional clothing from around the world. Mostly celebratory. I thought I would start with one part of my own ancestry
They will mostly be adults but I could not resist this little one
Cray-pas Specialist and Sennelier
on 12 x 12 gessoed board
I have one eye higher than the other and will correct that slowly. I have a lot of bead work to depict as well. C&C appreciated

Looking great! I do not see any issues other than the eye.
Here is a small update.

Love the idea! Now the pupil of the eye on the right of the child seems too large. Check the angle of the nose too...it looks straight on but the tilt of the head is a bit toward the right.Overall it's looking really good especially your color sense.

I am strugglying with paiting looks like a photo.in fact,I hate my painting looks like photo ,but I still new in painting, with no idea to work it out.in my mind ,while i painting, there should have some thing deeply in it,in the air,the music, the feeling, something the camera can't catch.sixth sense.also,a piece of the painter' s mind put inside,so it can own it's style.i don't know how can I reach it, just think painting should have something partcular.it takes time to work it out.

Hi Donna: I so like your idea of costumes around the world - this will be a beautiful tribute to your heritage.
I love the colors used used in this first piece, the way you have sprayed the feathers off the headpiece is beautiful. It works nicely between the warm and cool choices you made.
Thank you everyone for your suggestions and comments. Here it is finished.

Donna, it's really beautiful. I love the bold bright strokes you've used in the headdress.

Nice finish and I like the light on the dancer's head.
Thank you everyone. Although I do have to make it clear that the theme I am doing here is about tradition and culture, not costumes .
