RNAS East Haven, HMS Condor2, Deck Landing Control Officers School. Dummy flight deck marked out on a runway, with the bus converted to represent the 'Island' on a Carrier. With set ups like this ( and we had many) Hitler never stood a chance!
ps the Bus was named HMS Spurious

Jim - Great work!! It's a well known fact that the Brits successfully developed the carrier landing technique used with the Corsair ... good thing - or the war in the Pacific might have had a different outcome!!

I think I read somewhere it might have been my old skipper 'Winkle' Brown . Tight turn the straighten at the last minute.
By the way bit of licence, runway should be twice that width and the NAFFI van would have been hidden by the bus.

I like that, Jim. Your subjects are always so interesting.

Thank you Gray, you know how I like to tell a story.
Out of over 300 views on 3 forums, only 2 people commented on the bit of humour with the 'L' plates
