Hi, all! This is the second of my attempts at water and some type of shore. The photo isn't great, but hopefully you can see enough to offer advice. Thanks!
PS: Size is 18" x 24"

You have a good start here. I don't really see anything wrong, just continue .....................:) :)

I just don't know what to add next. Right now, the painting is hanging up on my wall so I can look at it and think about it. The painting feels kind of empty so far.

You have a good start here. For my two cents worth, I would build up the spit of land to the left and increase the tree density and height, so that instead of seeing all the water behind we would have glimpses only. It would keep the water theme going but increase the mystery, just what is around that spit, what vistas could open up?
I like works that suggest things or make you wish you could wander in and see a bit more around that headland or down that valley. It's where the eye gives up and the imagination takes over.
Love to see where you go from here.:)
