Is it transparent like tracing paper? I've read that Degas did a lot of his pastels on tracing paper.

The paper is transparent and the pad comes with a few color sheets for backgrounds..
the nude I posted is on canson paper my fave

Thats neat ,so you can change your background coloured sheets as you paint along,change your mind mid stream,

I have received a new product from Schmincke
called transparent paper for pastels I have done some work and like the way it holds pastel but I use the papers color to build my image upon ... but fun to experiment with.
