I think I'll cross post this oil painting. 30x36" oil on canvas. The hazy feel is due to a chip in my camera lens.

Edited to say "oops I forgot the pic."

This is a great painting. Exotic, luscious, passionate and sensual. Hmmm ... I think i'm going to go buy some fruit .... lol Mmmm....

:D Oh yeah....slithery little thing isn't he?

The depthness of that plum is divine. Excellent choice that grey sliver on marble. :)

Thank you! I hadn't actually noticed that the slithery one is on slithery marble veins.

Funny thing. I've been painting spirals, too. Spirals and snakes are symbolically related. Something's afoot.

I like it very much!:)

However the pear on the right looks a bit flat to me - not 3 dimensional like the 2 other fruit.

I agree. I'll go back in and modify it.

I don't know ... I think the pear on the right looks 3D how it is.

The computer screen flattens it out but it could use just a smidgen more reflected light.

GeniusOfInsanity

Yeah ... I guess I could see that. I don't think it needs much though ... like you said ... a smidgen.

I think it makes the piece!! I mean the snake is separating it from the other two. I thought the difference was intentional: a flaw that stood out so to speak.

Oh twell.

Good point Tam ... I was feeling the same thing I just couldn't quite put it into words.

Better?

The addition of the shadowed red is great and you kept your light source. As long as you don't lose the center indentation, which I think makes the piece stand out differently from the other two.

Ooo yes ... but then again i loved the original too. I really like this piece. I could stare at it for hours. I would love to have a print.

Hey wise woman (Aurora):thank you. What do you know about snake symbolism other than the biblical stuff?

arourapope

symbols of regeneration. Sometimes of wisdom.

I read a trippy book a little while back called From the Ashes of Angels It got pretty hoaky (sp?) in the second half (went into the Atlantis/ Alien territory, you know?), but the first half was really thought provoking and interesting. Lemme see if I can find an amazon link for you.
