View Full Version : Pastel framing
I have just completed an 18 in X 17 in pastel on normal canson paper. When framing is there any way to prevent the paper buckling after a period of time.I notice even with some of my watercolors on thicker paper that they do buckle slightly and is noticeable,
Any ideas would be appreciated,
Rod

Rod,
I have several old pieces that were done on Canson and haven't buckled. They were framed with archival tape hinges ( two hinges; each hinge made up of two pieces of tape like a "T") and with foam core or matboard as a backing. Hope this helps. Ken
Thanks Ken,
Will get some archival tape and give it a try,

Rod, are you hinging the paper from the top only. This is what you should be doing. If you are putting any hinges at the bottom or sides you will get some buckling as the humidity affects the paper. I've used Canson paper for years and never had a problem when hung the way I've described.
Thanks CT ,
that will be the problem, woops I've been putting tape on all sides,
