I started this in acrylics some months ago. It was from a model but when the teacher switched on a lamp he insisted that all the room lights should be switched off!! The result in quasi darkness was awful!! Well I thought I'd use oils on it....I forgot that once the first layer of paint went on I would not have any reference left!!:o
Anyways here's the pitiful result - it hasn't turned out ANYTHING like I'd hoped so I feel quite disappointed.....
I'm X-posting it in the figure forum too....I appreciate all comments.

Excuse me... I don't! I am particularly proud of that at the age of 39! LOL!
As for the nude, I see the artist's point. However, this picture could be a departure stage to develop to the desired finish. It just needs worked on, that's all.

Thank you Luis, Cathleen and Wayne for taking the time to look and comment. I would welcome suggestions on where it went wrong and how it could be improved upon.

Nadine thats a very good first effort. Its purely subjective so you
can disregard my comment but I'm troubled a bit by the halo
effect around the figure. But again a wonderful first ~Xavier:)

Thanks Xavier. My hubby said the same thing...but I'd seen this gorgeous painting that had that sort of effect but looked lovely cos it fitted in with the rest of it...it just looks dumb on mine.....
Oh some of the white blob in the middle is the camera flash!

Hi Nadine. The impression I got from your nude is that your desire was to paint in a more abstract manner. Is that true? The comp is OK but it needed a focal point. Nice figure expression.

I often see nudes that I don't like... THIS one, I like very much! She's solid and real and proportionally correct. A little refining on her, more work on the hair, objects, and background, and I think you'll have a winner! It doesn't look dumb.. it just looks unfinished.

Thank you Harry and Helen.
I'd love to paint in an INPRESSIONIST way but I just can't seem to!
