This month we are going to look at motherhood, starting with this wonderful charcoal drawing by Kathe Kollwitz.
I think I got a little carried away with examples of drawings and paintings, as there seem to be a lot of motherhood art.
Please copy, be inspired in ink, pencil or paint or maybe you could whip up a lino print :) You can make up your own painting or paint from a family photo. Use any medium you like and post here.
Here are the examples followed by a few links...one for Mary Cassatt who did tons of mother's and chidren.

Though Marisol is alive and well and under copyright I love her work and couldn't resist:

Sandra, I like you rendition of Modersohn, this is also my favourite one.
June, I love your Madonna and child! Modern and quirky.
Jane, this is beautiful, is it also done on a tile?
Here is a sketch I've done of Paula Modersohn-Becker's mother and child.

June, superb colors on your piece. Is it acrylics? how did you get the halo so flawlessly round?
Janet, the mother in your piece looks so contented. Fun bright colors.
Charri, superb rendition and I love the blanket on her.

Janet, as Sandra says, your mother looks so contented!! Lucky baby!!!
Charri, Your study of Mendersohn-Becker is wonderful in black & white.
My Madonna is in acrylics. The halos were done using acrylic gold gel/paste medium. I bought a trial set of 6 pastes and gels to try out and the gold is the first one I tried . The gold paste looks a bit like gold leaf without all the bother of actual gold leaf.

Charri, I too like the blanket and the black and white drawing. Also I love this artist Modersohn-Becker and wish I had more repro's of her work.
That gold paste sounds interesting. I use gold acrylic paint, but you have to sort of tilt it to see the shine.
My madonna is painted 4"x 4" tile.
