I love tiny things so I couldn't resist when I saw this teeny sketchbook.

Pages are about 1.5"x2.5" and I have decided to fill it with drawings of little treasures & things I have around the house. I have lots of tiny stuff so it's been a fun project! :)

My goodness! That is tiny. Great little sketches. Did you make the sketchbook? And are those little colored pencils I see behind it?

The book is from CostPlus World Market, handmade in Nepal, pretty nice paper too that takes watercolor washes well. :) Yeah those are teeny colored pencils from the dollar bin at Michaels!

Here are a couple new little treasures I picked up on my recent Disneyland trip.

I took a picture of the binding in the center for Jan here...The paper is sewn together here and there is a hole in the center where an elastic is tied to hold the book closed. I'm not sure if it could be easily re-filled but I think it would be pretty easy to make one!

Great tiny sketches. Looks like a simple pamphlet binding. Easy to do.

More cuteness :)

Jan, I wondered the same thing about the binding, LOL. Hmmm. I have lots of leather laying around, and. . .

Cool little sketches, Heather! I love that little book!

Been working in my tiny book some more! It's the perfect thing for me to use when life gets really busy as in the past month, let's me do some practice and get a tiny drawing done when I don't have a lot of time to devote to it.

I'm also really enjoying the ability to catalog all the little doo-dads I seem to collect. :) I've gone back and started using both sides of the paper now and it is holding up very well even with watercolor and markers. Of course on paper this small, it doesn't require using a ton of media so that might help keep it from seeping to the other side of the paper.

Very neat. How do you keep it open, or from moving while you're drawing?

12-02-2012, 03:20 PM
I kind of just press it down with my left hand while I draw with my right. In this particular book I'm usually just working on a lap desk on the couch. It's a real pain to keep it open to photograph though! LOL

Delightful little sketches.

Nice sketches... and something you can carry everywhere.
I like it.

Very nice sketches, and a super compact sketchbook! I'm a sketchbook junkie (as are many in this forum) but I don't have anything this small...don't think my big hands and reading glasses would work too well with this format. :)

This is a great mini sketchbook, and I love your drawings. I too am attracted to small things. I have several tiny coptic books I made, I honestly haven't done any sketches in them though, so pat yourself on the back that you did!

My tiny book and I are together again, after nearly losing it when I recently moved to a new house. :(

Very happy to have this again! I'm adding drawings to both sides of the paper now as I have found it to hold up with hardly any bleeding through the pages.

Wonderful to see your tiny sketches again.
