What are those wings made of?
Thinking of an artist you might be interested in. His name will come to me...........eventually.

Not fair. When I post my delicate feminine dragonfly of black wire and glass beads, will this one destroy it?

Are you sure that isn't a Florida mosquito???

:D
mame: the wings are made of acetate and shellack which is made from insects :)
they are held up by old hack saw blades with tiny teeths

brushstroked: fear not it looks impressive but its delicate as last years leaves and would fall apart with a big wind
i never met a florida mosquito but i now live in fear thank you

Mucho much:

Here's the artist I was trying to think of

Jack Dollhausen
The web site's a little annoying to navigate and doesn't portray the "contraptions" very well.

He had an exhibit at my local museum which was wonderful and a friend of mine studied with him where he teaches (not sure if he is still teaching) at Washington State University, Pullman Washington, USA.

The Dragon does Fly. It does indeed.

I've always admired this piece. This and the wooden computer are my fav's of your "constructions".

I love dragonflies and this is beautiful. I've come and looked several times. You don't have dragonflies where you are? I thought they were everywhere.
