View Full Version : Rocky II Again

I must have pushed the wrong button on the first try at posting this painting.

A 6.5" by 5.5" watercolour on Arches 300 pound paper. This is taken from
another of Rod's lessons on rocks. It was a fun project and I enjoyed it very
much; however, this lesson was more difficult for me. Again I made some changes
to the original lesson only so I could put some of me into the painting.

I would value a critical critique of both its faults and its merits. I really
enjoy the re-work improving the painting.

Thanks in Advance (TIA),

Nice soft sky with a good variety of colour. Rocks look great with the cracks and crevaces. Strong bold colours on the main rock make it look solid.
Just a couple of minor points, the very distant tree line should be a cool colour, touch of blue/purple. Also some darks on the left shadow side of main rock . This would give a nice contrast with the sea ,and a ground shadow from the rock would be nice ,

Thanks Again, Rod.

I really enjoy your lessons. They are very well put together. Wish you would make a video or two.

A video, I would get soooooo nervous my brush would shake,
might produce some nice loose paintings though :)

I too love Rod's lessons they have been such a help to me. Thank you Rod.

I really like the changes you made in RockyII. It is comming along great. Have you tried the bubbles yet. Now that is a fun lesson. I used almost a entire pad of paper making them. Now I have greeting card for along time.:)
