This is an old..pastel portrait. My...model at the time..was a bit reluctant to pose, you may sense this when looking at this drawing.

Was done (I believe) on a full sheet of Canson paper..I was focusing on her face...detailing less as I drew further down her figure. So, there appears to be a lack of unity in the over-all approach to this drawing. Was a good experiment.

Your thoughts and comments are always welcome.

btw: I thought she was quite beautiful...but..she looks a bit..angry here! lol

Dear Mike,
I dread opening a lot of your posts, but this is great.
So I am a gosh darned realist, but it is gentler on the soul for me.
Thanks for posting.

I'm not sure if I'd use the word angry.
This is well done ,but the white line on her torso to navel makes me think that she had some sort of surgery. stitch marks. (sorry)

Michael, I just love this! She has a wary look in her eye. I like the colours you used here. Inspirational :) Would you mind if I saved it?

Mayet, the golds and yellows (pastels) were used to duplicate the colors I was seeing in the photo-reference. I believe I used (can't remember for sure) an outdoor film, with indoor tungsten lighting (household lamp)..and I believe there was also some out-door lighting coming in from one window.

Please feel free to save it...glad you like it. I also used quite a bit of charcoal if I recall, and the Canson paper was a dark grey.

Although there is an inconsistancy in approach..I still kinda liked this drawing. I enjoyed the loose areas probably more than the work I did on her face.
