Hi all,
I may have previously posted this in the wrong forum, apologies.
This is my first attempt in many years into oils. I have taken reference from article from a painting site which I saw a long while ago - sorry I can't remember it.
I know I have a lot more work to do, but hopefully I can progress. Although many people state that it is best to stay "loose" with the painting I rather like the ideal of painting detail - is this so wrong? I want to put more detail in the tree foliage and the grass. I also need to work on the far right cow - not too good at the moment.
All comments and ctitique is welcome,

Nothing wrong with liking or painting detail. Go with your heart and explore your own art in your own way.

1st and most important = ENJOY IT :)

From a quick look,
Add shadows and darks
The cows look small to me ,but i have no idea how large the trees are.
Needs some details/colour differences in the foreground.
Keep posting :)

Finished tonight - BUT....... not at all happy with the cow on far right so did some cloning in Gimp and got this
I think it improves the composition but would welcome some comments,
Thnaks in advance

Very nice! I think I would add a bit of texture to some of the foreground grass. Hope you get that cow right so you can enjoy your lovely painting! :cat:

Now you need to change the title.
I agree with Trumper those look like very small cows Brian

Are there any fences in this field keeping the cattle from wandering away?

personally I like the composition more with all three cows so I hope you can get that third one to your liking...

Well I don't see why you couldn't put a cow nearer and if your worried about the detail of a cow, what's to say you can't have it even laying down in the tall grass just chewin" it's cud looking back at his buds. I like the colors and the composition.

Hi Brian! I agree with FP! Why not add the third cow, he could be laying in the grass, or have his rear partly facing us and he is looking towards the others. No need to get into much detail, just colour blocks and suggestion! I would certainly have a go! :crossfingers: You can always paint him out again if you aren't happy with him! It has come along nicely though and I like your colours too! Cheers =)) Debs. :D
