Buddha's Little Instruction Book...
a compilation of sayings. Each one - any one can open my eyes to the wonders life offers

"Everything that has a beginning has an ending.
Make your peace with that and all will be well."

"Each morning we are born again.
What we do today matters most."

I have an inner critic that just won't shut up.

I know i need to balance that Judge with self compassion. But we know that to know is not to do.

I'm not Buddhist, but here's another thing that Buddha said:

"Do not judge yourself harshly. Without mercy for ourselves we cannot love the world."

hi Sandi,

Robert puts it so succintly. Kinda takes the ache out of the syndrome.

Thank u for bringing him out here.

I've just been reading some amazing short stories also. Wonderful tale called Starving Wolf and another called Arctic Night by Gary Callfas. Check them out.

The sage advice that loving and having compassion for ourselves has been around a long time. Certainly longer than psychobabble. Most kids like I was only hear sacrifice in the Jesus' golden rule. The light bulb went on for me one day when I realized He said you had to love yourself first to know how to treat others. Of course He could have meant to beat others up as badly as we do ourselves. I somehow doubt that. I guess well meaning people only stressed loving others even when we're stressed out or empty from so much sacrifice. Its taken me along time to really "get it" and overcome the programming.

Ooops! Hit the button too quickly.

"Loving others, or how your treat yourself, is really your own dose of your own medicine that you give to others at the same time."
