63' British Power Boats air sea rescue launch about to uplift a downed bomber crew from a channel Rescue Float. These Floats were anchored in the English Channel, by both sides in WW2, and contained bunks and supplies of food and water also an emegency radio transmitter.
The Boats were manned and operated by the Royal Air Force Marine Section.

Tells a great story Jim. I hadn't heard of Rescue Floats before.

Good work Jim,
I used to love listening to the big RAF Air Sea Rescue launches in Bridlington harbour when I was a kid . A lovely , deep , throaty burble.

Great painting, but even a more interesting story. I also had never heard of these. Thanx for sharing both.

Buena acción en esta pintura. No sabía que se habían usado estas barcas de auxilio. Una brillante idea!!!
