sorry, i couldn't think of any other forum that this could fit into.

i have been browsing this site for some months now, but there is a noticeable lack of any art with mechanical subjects as the inspiration. Am I in the minority as an artist who prefers mechanical things. Why do you think this is? I am interested to hear the views of painters of more ''traditional'' subjects and also to hear from any fellow mechanical subject painters..

oh and can i just say that this site is great:clap:

Well, I knew an aviation artist and when I used to do trade shows there were several artist specialising in motor sport art. Can't say I know any train artists, but I love Turner's 'Rain, Steam and Speed'. Which I just visited again yesterday. Wow. Does that count? ;) I have a fixation with submarines and destroyers, though the paintings of them are few are far between (and often abstracted nowadays). Motorcycle art is definitely a specialty too, I've heard of people having 'portraits' done of their Harleys. :)

WetCanvas member ripvanblair does a lot of vehicles; here's one I bet you'll like: http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=114966

If you do a search on threads he's started (click members button above, click advanced search, put in his name, select the result, scroll down his profile to "find threads started by ripvanblair"), you can look at them all. It seems to me that we have another member from the United Kingdom who does vehicles from time to time, but I just can't bring the name to mind at the moment.

sorry, simdel.

I love mechanical things, but I paint nothing that actually exists, at least not as it actually is...
