I'm looking to buy a set of pastel pencils for a friend as a gift. He currently uses mostly Sennelier pastels and also Pan Pastels, but has told me he purchased a few pastel pencils and likes them for certain details. So I'm looking for a set of pastel pencils that would work well what he already has. Any suggestions. Thanks!

Hi Kiabgoa,

Actually I would try to get him the same brand he has as he likes them. Everyone has their preferences and so then.....:)
But if you cannot find out what he has - just make sure you get him artist grade, not student grade.
I am sure others will come along here with recomendations.

If he likes landscapes i recommend Faber-Castell. But i only have one Cran D'aches new ones (their product sample) and Talens Van Gogh set which good for some hues what have lightfastness problem in Faber-Castell but i dont like way they feel. Cran D'ache based this single pencil s maybe little softer than Talens Van Gogh.
