A new project has been announced in the WetCanvas! project system!

Title: WC bookmarks (unofficial)

Description:

Here's a unique way to show others your addiction to world of WC watercolour forum. And share with long distance members or friends you devotion and your artistic talents.

Next time when you're in a creative mood, make your own bookmark. You can capture the beauty and significance of your or other members work by creating a special laminated keepsake. Laminated bookmarks are a fun and easy to make, all you need is print these artistic bookmarks from the final entries page, Cut out bookmark carefully, and cover with clear contact paper so it lasts longer (you could also put a piece of cardboard in the center before gluing for a sturdier bookmark)
OPTIONAL: Poke a hole in the top of the bookmark and tie a string/wool through as a tassel.

INSTRUCTIONS:
1) Click on the link of the Reference Images link to download the template and copy to your hard disk.
2) Paste your artwork into the white area using your favorite software program (ie: Photoshop)
3) Upload your entry
4) Do not forget to sign your work!

TO BETTER RESOLUTION PRINTS:
Print at 200 dpi or ( 2 X 6.2 inches)

Buy tassels and die-cut blanks made of heavy cardstock for your own bookmark

About the use of the WC logo and any legal issue o restriction:

I always liked this painting, Marvin. If the children were both boys, they could be my daughter and her family. That's them on the rocks in my Hawaii bookmark.

Guau! I had not idea I just came back from the the Bronx zoo being a chaperone today and I not only found out that the project was accepted by that also see how much interest and how much art is already there! Thanks so much everybody for participating. Is amazing to see how beautiful the book marks are. I thought was a good idea when I start to think about it but now when I see all the entries together I am even more convinced that this forum is the best! you are the best!

Okay I will try to clarify a little.
-The main idea is that everyone would be able to download any entry of any member and print it.

One thing is better to set the printer to 150 dpi, so when you print the bookmark it will have a better resolution.

Let me explain if you will print at 72 dpi the image size will be 4,16 X 12,94 inches But if you change to 150 dpi the size of same image will be 2 X 6,21 inche but higher ressolution

I hope this clarify at least a bit :)

took two attempts at deleting etc (the browser likes to keep the old files if they have the same name, and adds the old one back in not the new version)..so if you're re-loading a file , change it's file name!! :D:D

HELP, PLEASE!

I don't have Photoshop, but I have Photoshop Elements. Can someone tell me how to size my crop from my paintings for this project, and how to place my cropped painting on the WetCanvas! bookmark template, and how to put my signature on the bookmark???? In other words, how can I do this???????

I thought I knew enough about Elements to do this myself, but I think it involves layering and I haven't learned that yet!!!

This lighthouse is really this tall! It is at Ponce de Leon Inlet near Daytona Beach, Florida. It has been sold also.

Help, again, please!!

I notice than everyone else's bookmarks are larger than mine when I click on their thumbnails. How can I get mine to be that large? I've obviously done something wrong somewhere!!:confused: :rolleyes:

Hi Lyn
Let see are you in a PC ?
If yes you need first download the template to you computer
Right click .....> Save picture as...

Then open the file in Adobe elements ?
Open the file ( your work ) that you are going to use as an image
Copy all and paste in the template
It will probably be in other layer...it s fine
then save the same file as something else as a JPG it probably ask if you want to flatten say yes ...
Do not resize this file

Loaded this one yesterday... but am finding I have to blow up the sizes of the original file by double or quadruple to fit the template.........so they are losing clarity....... am I doing something wrong? I paint around 7"x9" pics and scan them in.............

This snow scene was done with only FUB and Burnt Umber and the white of the paper.

I know what you mean Jaytee, but it doesn't show on this - its very eyecatching.

I had the reverse problem, I couldn't get enough of my paicture on the bookmark , so I enlarged the template 150%, made all my bookmarks, then reduced them back again before saving - a tedious process. I managed to print 8 bookmarks on a single A4 sheet of thin card for laminating.= using the Paintshop Pro multiple image printing tool.

This would be a great bookmark for a mystery or a Dean Koontz!! LOL

I've uploaded six more new bookmarks, including this one, for a total of ten. That's probably all, unless I paint something that will work.

I'll be printing like crazy--everyone's bookmarks have turned out so well, and it will be so neat to have a piece of art by my favorite people!

I've printed out a little collection of them too... One of the things I like about this project is that it allows us to see others' work more "up close" than usual.

Help! Everyone's bookmark is the same size except mine. I tried not resizing, and it comes out HUGE, about 3 times the size of everyone else's. But when I reduce the size, I get a really small one. I just tried a new cabbage one. First it was very big, and 300 dpi. I changed it to 72 dpi, and now it is too small. I'm using Photoshop elements, and I never did get the hang of the resize stuff.

I also tried putting my name on the ones I had already made, and I can't get my name small enough - I guess because the bookmarks are so small. I could re-do them, but unless I know the secret, I'm afraid I will have the same problem.

Thanks Lyn......may do more......this is a fun project.......I've printed out about four so far and they really look good printed.....I bought some Wausau Bright White premium card stock Acid-free Lignin-free 65lbs card stock paper to print from......really works good for the bookmarks......

No, Julie, I haven't had the pleasure, but when I was in Florida for five weeks in January, I was privileged to watch his classes on PBS.
