Okay, no response in the site discussion forum, so I thought I'd put it to the guru's here http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif

Okay, I give up. I know lots of folks can click on the links in the chat room and have them come up. However, I can't seem to do this! I click and nothing happens. Is there some setting that I'm missing to be able to click on the link? I'm running Win98.

I'm running Internet Explorer 5.5. I updated my microsoft VM. That is what the folks at digichat said to do, and it's still not working. When I place the cursor over the link, the little hand comes up like it's going to link, but then nothing happens. I've attempted to change the cursor marking to another icon, but that doesn't seem to do anything. It's still the little hand cursor, not the pen cursor that I changed it to for links. I'm running an active desktop. Don't know if that makes any difference or not...lol. I've tried everything, even lowered the security settings, still no go. I'm at my wit's end here. Please help!!!

Is javascript enabled in your browser ?
Remove IE, the install again.
If nothing use, a w98 reinstall recommended.....

Gerak:

The javascript is enabled. The internet explorer was just installed to version 5.5. There's got to be something else besides re-installing Win98, because everything else works just fine. Hubby has a java chat room that he goes into, and he can get into the linked sites just fine. I can't do it here on this chat, and it's frustrating.

Sigh...

Sounds like a strange IE/MS problem. Not sure. Never heard of this problem before. I wonder what would happen if Netscape were your default browser?

Well, after many many many hours working the problem, I think I've got it narrowed down. The java that's run with Internet Explorer will not allow me access to the chat links. The java that's run with Netscape will. I don't know how to configure Internet Explorer to use the javascript that comes with Netscape. I don't know how to configure Netscape to use the same format on the message boards. Soooooooo I've come to the conclusion if I'm chatting, it's in Netscape. If I'm responding to the boards, it's with Internet Explorer. Netscape does something funky with the reply pages, doesn't allow it to look right in re: the messages at the bottom. I know nothing about configuring java, I just know that this is how it's working at the moment.

Seems like this question has stumped all the experts! Sigh...

You can try this:
in internet settings, at the last page there are some checkbox.Look for java, is it on or off?

When you said you have IE 5.5,that is upgraded from an existing version ?
If so then remove IE, then install again.
