I am building a website and I don`t want people stealing my works, I have put notices on almost all my pages that my stuff is copyrighted by me the artist and was wondering if anybody had any suggestions?
Thanks

People tend to ignore copyrights on web pages. Seriously.
For maximum protection, place a copyright notice directly in the image in full view and in a place where it is almost impossible to edit it out. Yah, it looks like hell, but it all comes out to how much protection you want.
Make sure all your images are 72 dpi and no bigger than 300 pixels in width OR height. Do not store ANY images on your web server, regardless of where, that do not fulfill those conditions. There is lots of software out there that will transverse directories and suck everything down. Some of it is even included in popular HTML editors. HotDog is one of them.
If you want to be more subtle, there are other means but they can cost money.
All my images have watermarks that are registered with Digimarc. I also have copyrights on the images themselves (but not smack-dab in the middle) and a javascript pop-up for people using non-MAC IE. The bottom of all of my pages includes the standard copyright mumbo-jumbo, was well as a warning that all images are watermarked.
Here's a link to Digimarc that explains watermarking: http://www.digimarc.com/support/cswater.htm
Here's a link to all the applications that support Digimarc embedding: http://www.digimarc.com/imaging/ibappschart.htm
They even support PaintShop Pro.
Even with taking the above precautions, etc., someone IS going to try to take your images. Count on it.
Hope this helps!

I think you can do a javascript for stopping the right mouse click.
It's not a perfect thing because a man with some knowledge easily ignore that, but it's your first defending line. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/wink.gif
Gerak:
That doesn't work for Mac users and all you have to do in IE is download the page. IE will suck down all the links and graphics and stuff.

Michael,
It's not uncommon for people to take those "little" photos and print them off for money. It is also extremely rare that anyone is going to link back to you or give you credit.
Just go browse the WebShots community. There are tons of ripped off images all over the place.

So what if they copy a little pixely image , Its no original painting.
Its fine with me if someone wants to use any image off my site, I would like it if thy give me me cedet for it. evan a link to my site. The little digital thing dosnt realy show it well anyway.
Nothing can duplacate what its like in real life.....

Thanks Roan for your comments. I have put a message that is invinsible on most of my drawings(not done yet) so hopefully if someone tries to print them out the message will appear, but that`s all I know how to do so far. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
