Hi, I need some help. I'm just setting a few images up on a page to show a friend of a friend far away who says he's interested in some abstract design images for his law office. Below is the index, you click on an image to view it. In my photoediting software the images don't look as jaggy and fuzzy as they do in the webpage. Why is that? I haven't over compressed them, or if I have, they don't show up that way in the editing program (psp v.7). Any thoughts? Should these by gif files instead? Help?!?!? http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/frown.gif

They don't look jagged to me. Sorta fuzzy around the edges of the design but I have no way of knowing how they are supposed to look -- I've not seen the originals. Can you send me one of them via email so I can see what the originals look like?

256 color GIFs will look horrid, stick with JPG.

What compression ratio did you use?

Well, I found that they look better in IE than in Netscape. I also added a picture of a final print. Let me know if the site is slow to download on a regular modem. I have DLS now : )

Tsk, Doug -- I would but I have a cable modem :P

Okay, took a boo at it. That's about the best you're gonna get on the web, really. 72 dpi is about max for monitors.

hrm, side by side and IE to Netscape, the only thing I notice is the Netscape view is brighter -- the colors are more vivid. Especially the yellows. Don't see any different in sharpness, though.

You on a MAC or something? http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/wink.gif

Hi Doug,

I have a 56k modem connection, Apple monitor set at thousands or millions of colors, using IE. Your images don't appear jaggy to me. The elements look soft edged though. The thumbnail page downloads fairly quickly (or maybe I have gotten used to waiting a bit on my modem). The large jpg images download a bit slow at 56k. By the way, I really like your work. I have always appreciated abstract or non representational work.
