Hey everyone, I'm looking around dickblick.com because I just got paid and I'm looking for some stuff..

I've heard that bristol board is excellent for smoothness for portraits, and I'm looking it up here, but I really don't know what type to get...

What do you guys use?

Thanks

100# 2-ply smooth. Acid free. I get it in 14x17 inch pads. I can't really recommend a brand, but I usually seem to get Strathmore or Canson.
Have fun!:D

Yep, what he said. I like the smooth better than vellum for blending purposes. :D

I have a custom A3 pad of 140lb Canson smooth bristol and it takes a lil gettin used to but is very cool.... but i hear strathmore 500 series smooth is ideal ... offered in various ply (try 4-5 atleast). Go check out their website they have some good info on it all. So if you gots the dosh go the 500's, it's the next major purchase when my current pad runs out :) Have fun.
