Very nice Susie, my only critique....why didn't you center the subject on the canvas a little more?
hi suzy, welcome to WC!
please note 600 x 600 pixel images are the best size for viewing for all monitor sizes
for lead in room, andrew, a place for him to go ! = )
cept his face
i first thought his 'eyelid' was the white of his eye and he was looking down at me ... now he's angry and grumpily looking down at me, grumpy mouth, angry eye - turtles are not grumpy, they're calmly, seriously complacently accepting of their life, peaceful ... could you look again at your reference and tweak that a bit?

For somewhere for him to go....ok .... up hill?
I think some turtles can be quite crabby...heard that over the waves.

i put on a smaller picture and my reference photo.
andrew, i didnt center because somewhere i read not to. i agree with you though. will do it differently next time. i have ALOT to learn. i am so glad to have found this forum:)
La, i agree with you too. i could not figure out what i did not like about his face and with your help now i get it. unfortunatley i cant do anything about it. this painting is in a store about 600 miles away from me.:( could you please give me some suggestions as to how you would do it?
Thank you both for your input and taking the time to help a newbie out;) it is much appreciated!

Just love it truly, Suzy you have a definite style and your use of colour is spectacular in my opinion. Cheers Debs. =))

You may h ave a lot to learn but you are obviously starting with a bucket load of talent. We have these guys here and you have totally captured the 'sense' of him the water. Only suggestion from me is an artist license one - soften off / grey off the colour of the reflections as currently they are too eye catching. Looking forward to your next pieces.

Greensyster, how do you do that? Should I do it with a glaze over the reflection to tone it down?
if it's 600 miles away don't worry about it, it'll probably sell as is.
if it comes back, bring it back up and we'll chat again = )
