Something in the vein as 'In a lonly place'
I was asked to do something when a well known member of another form 'crossed the bar', this is what I came up with, it was based on a similar one I did with a Swordfish flying low into a sunset, with the same words.

Nice work Jim. Certainly conveys a restful , lonely impression.
As a painting I might lift the seagull's body just above the horizon .

Thanks Neil,it wasn't too well thought out as it was a bit of a rushed job, I wanted to try to have the lower wing almost trailing in the water. I spent hours on the stern of the MV England between the Falkland Islands and Capetown watching an Albatross at the stern, doin amazing low level 'Ops', with hardly ever a flap of the wings.

Silly me - it's an Albatross! Not too good on my bird spotting!

it's a lovey piece.

It's a similar sentiment to my earlier piece "Into the Sunset" where this old geezer of a pilot will be headed in the not too distant future.
