Medium: Pencil

MY COMMENTS:
Tried to capture the paculiar smile my grandpa displayed on a picture taken in India in 1959. Kind'of hard since I have not done many portraits to this day and also (more importantly) The face on the reference picture is not even the size of my thumb.

MY QUESTIONS FOR THE GROUP:
Something is off, I can't put my finger on it. I'm open to C & C. Sorry for the poor quality of the picture, I'm having camera problems.

set a ruler on the center of an eyeball, straight below that is (generally and variably) how wide a mouth extends ... verify with doing the same with the reference

note closely the eyebrows and shadows above them ... bit of angry going on there where soft happy should be

quite helpful to turn the drawing upside down, reference too, and compare the shapes

hope that helps, portraits are hard and old photos are heartwarming, but truly terrible, usually, as reference material.
