GENERAL INFORMATION:
Title: Party of One
Year Created:
Medium: Acrylic
Surface: Canvas
Dimension: 30 x 40
Allow digital alterations?: Yes!

MY COMMENTS:
Painting is supposed to represent controlled chaos involved in childhood dreams and fantasies.

MY QUESTIONS FOR THE GROUP:
Is it too chaotic? Does the pink color overshadow everything else? Any suggestions or thoughts appreciated.

Looks interesting, but because of the size of your photo it's not easy to have a survey. Try to post it smaller?

MY COMMENTS:
Wanted to create a playful surreal pop art painting of a girl living her life through her dreams.

MY QUESTIONS FOR THE GROUP:
Wanted to know if painting is too chaotic or if the pink color overwhelms the painting.

Wild Lighthouse party hats, pink mares and one stallion, Mr Whippy icecreams, chess and snakes and ladders, humbug lollipops and a party dress.

I like it controlled chaos within the chess grid - you only have pink, black and white and these seem to be fairly well balanced.

My only suggestion would be to have had the chess board structure more accurately depicted, a tight structure, then add the mad chaos of the dream/fantasy state over this.

Andrew

liking all the black and white things very much!
all but the cupcakes of red works have issues - scattered horses are too scattered for me (at least one looks dead), pink brillo pads? what?

love this wild series, but yeah, not so much this one

Thanks for all suggestions!! It is definitely a work in progress and I am going to try to tighten up the checkerboard. I have also tried changing the "dead" horse to look more alive and the "brillo" pads to look more like cotton candy! :D

I like some symbolism in art and this one appeals to that. I especially like the movement you created in it. It has become a dazzling scene and I know this is not easy to create! Everything seems to be spinning and turning and falling ....... It all contributes to 'your' dream.
The chessboardroad is a bit out of perspective, but I really like your work a lot!

Striking, original, and bold!

Sorry I can't be more critical

Lynda, at first I didn't like it but as I looked at it for awhile I changed my mind. I would not change the perspective. After all, this is a child's dream right? Nothing is in perspective for a child and a dream yet!! I like the pink--I'm guessing a little girl's dream. Carol

I also think the perspective on the chessboard is fine! It looks like it could be moving in sync with the dream as everything else moves! Like a dizzy feeling when you look at something and it appears to warp and slide..... very nice movement. I can imagine things moving and changing as I study it, almost like magic! Part of me wants to add another colour, but part of me likes it as is! I dream in colour I think, but apparently not everybody does. Hmmm..... clever ideas, and you are keeping to your unicorn series!!! A childs bedroom or even a quirky ladies bedroom would be ideal to hang these interesting and ever changing scenes!!! =)) cheers and keep imagining ...Debs.
