I'm having a wall in my home painted as a mural - a city scene with a lot of different artists I know doing the various buildings & street views. I haven't done a mural in years and remember nothing about it. Could anyone tell me technically just how to go about this - how to prep, materials to use, finish that can be washed, etc? Thanks.

I do a lot of wall murals and I use all different types of laytex.. going from glossey to semi gloss to flat. Mostly I like the washable paints. This all depends on what the effect I am trying to get.
A grey is great to start out your wall as a background color but white or really anyother color will do,, I usually work with the color my clients have their wall already painted.
I sketch my mural out on the wall.. and correct size and shapes then.. Then I paint starting with the flat wall colors frist.. usually you can get mix match colors at any hardware store cheap.. Then I work up to my glosses and semi-glosses.. When I finish I have two choices I can put a thin layer of poly over the mural or spray it with poly.. the spray isn't so shinny as the glaze.. I am adding one of my murals for you to see..hope you will post yours for everyone to see!
Hope I helped.
