Very nice. The figure looks great, with the lighting well focused. About the only thing I would look into myself would be hand painting the plants in the background, to have the same "airbrush style" as the figure.

Could you reveal some of your technique? Was the figure a drawing at one time?

I really like the wings on the larger fairy!

Limits? What limits?

Hey, guys!

Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it.

The process for this was fairly straight forward. I used Vue to render the trees and sky, then used photoshop to airbrush the fairies. My wife posed as the fairy model.

I, too, liked how the wings turned out. I painted them with a light gray, then used a crystallize filter, then brought the opacity down. Simple trick that worked well!

I find myself being a little torn lately between using the software to duplicate techniques (airbrush, paintbrush, etc.) and using the strengths of rendering and digital manipulation. Example, would this be better by airbrushing everything, including the rendered background, or should I use PS to insert the digital photo of the model and do a lot of compositing so it looks more like a photograph? Not sure, myself. Calls for lots more experimentation! http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Thanks again!
