View Full Version : New style -- homage to Frank Harris

This is something I've always wanted to do since I saw the work of cover illustrator Frank Harris. SF with a impressionist style. Love his stuff. I've seen only 7 of his bookcovers, but there not like anything else.
Bryce 4 and Painter 5.5. The ship is a model of the BattleStar Galactica, available on the Internet. Technically, this could qualify as part of the fan-art project!

VERY cool! I've been exploring this avenue as well.

Did you render in Bryce and then use Painter from that image? Did you trace or draw freehand from your rendering?

This is the original image from Bryce. This was posterized in Painter at 12 levels, then the "just add water" brush was used to blend the edges.


The next step is try clothed figures and faces. I'm thinking about imitating NC Wyeth's great illustrations for <u>Kidnapped</u> and <u>Treasure Island</u>

Here's one I did using Vue and then adjusting in PS.
