I originally posted this in the illustration forum, but hadn't gotten much of a response. This was done in Painter and Photoshop. I'm planning on creating an online comic book and I'm working on number of issues such as characters, costumes, story, etc. This is my most complete concept sketch for a yet un-named character. Opinions?

I saw it there but only now figured out what I was going to say. I like the concept of the cut away leotard, but I wasn't sure what the idea behind this was. Is this a Jason of the future?
Also, how did you do the shading. I've seen a lot of this type of PS shading, and haven't a clue as to how it is done.

I used various sizes of the airbrush for the shading. I usually have the pressure set low, no higher than 20%. I set the airbrush option to "multiply". Then I use the color dropper to sample the color of whatever it is that I'm going to shadow. Next, I open the color picker, click custom and use the Pantone Process to a darker shade of the same color. I then airbrush in the shadows. To lay in the light, I create a new layer, switch the color to white and change the airbrush option to normal.
Sorry, I didn't get the Jason reference. I'm still not quite sure where I'm going with this. I have lot of concepts bouncing around in my head and I'm just trying to commit them to paper before I lose them. This one just got developed a bit further than the other scribbles I was doing.
