Just thought I'd share this.
I had an auction go and the person paid me about 2 minuites after the auction ended using PayPal. I packed the piece and sent it out next morning.
About 4 or 5 days later I got home and there was a PayPal payment for the painting .. same eBay ID .. different name, different address. [b]Strange[/]

I wrote the lady back and explained that the person already paid and the piece had been shipped to the gentleman. Explained that I had no idea how this could happen and that I could refund her the amoutn she paid through paypal but of course paypal would take their money from her and from me as they get a share of each transaction.
Being as the former auction went for a good price I offered her a choice form 9 different paintings of the same size. Her and her husband chose one and wrote me a very nice email thanking me for being so kind. Geepers, I was only too happy to get the sale for a good price and really happy that she was happy in the end too.

Everybody is :D

That's great Wayne. Everybody's happy and everybody wins. Doesn't get better than this.

Yes, sounds like a winner all round!

But, I'd sure feel scared if I saw that on my screen...not knowing who the real buyer was supposed to be! Yikes!!

Yes when they work .. at first I was thinking .. oh no .. a divorced couple and one trying to beat the other up .. thank God it was just whatever and not that.

Actually, it's great that you got the 2nd sale, but you could have refunded her money without fees. In Paypal, if you click on the transaction detail, at the bottom of the page there is a link that says "refund". If you click that, it refunds the amount without any fees charged. You can do this for 30 days following the sale.

If this happens again and the person doesn't want another painting, you can definitely do the refund with no harm done.
