Title: Still Life
Allow digital alterations?: Yes!
This is one of my last painting I made. The photograph exaggerated the darks but I think the colors are pretty close. I was experimenting with glazes at the time. It's not the most interesting painting as I was simply practicing the technique and looking to establish a 3 dimensional piece.
MY QUESTIONS FOR THE GROUP:
I'm open to critiques so long as they aren't insulting.

I think that you have definitely accomplished what you set out to do.

This is beautiful and very well done! Love your rendering and colors. The table cloth is lovely. I like the black ground. You have really captured the essence of each of the objects and setting. It feels alive.
I think I would prefer the bottom to be cropped and perhaps the right side. I guess maybe the tabletop is a little confusing, as it appears to be on two levels with the bottle resting lower than the apple.

You have done a great job, but there is too much table cloth even though it is beautifully done.

Lol....I guess I need to crop the table cloth! Song bird you're right in that the bottle is actually lower and behind the apple. The apple was propped up and now looking at it I probably should have kept it level with the bottle to avoid less confusion. It's hard to remember that others don't always see what you see. Thanks everyone for stopping by and looking.

You certainly have the skills. I think song bird wrote an excellent comment.

Thank you both leisure artist and coen 1 for replying.

I like the bottle lower than the apple. I think it adds another level to the whole thing. To me it seem the apple is sitting on something that is under the table cloth that elevates the apple and the bottle is actually on the table, I like it like it is.

I'm glad you mentioned the darks are appearing darker because I was looking for little more definition on the apple to our left. Beautifully done.

Thanks guys. In reality the darks are no where near this dark in the photograph. It's discouraging when your photos don't truly represent the actual painting.
