Something slightly different, HMS Patriot was a WW1 destroyer, one of several fitted with an Obervation Baloon.
She was the first ship to sink a Submarine with the aid of her onboard 'Air Element'.
She was transfered to Canada, and at one time , I think in the 1930's she was the only ship in the RCN. I'm not sure but I think her name lives on at a Naval Base In Canada.
