Since I'm a computer graphics artist myself, I thought I would try and revive this area of the message board. Am I the only one out there? Presumably not? Anybody have any questions I could pretend to be able to answer?

I do mostly 3D computer graphics, intended as the basis for limited edition archival prints. I'm actually already printing some, and it's just been great.

Jen:

I am definately interested in learning more about digital art.

There was a time that Roger was doing Digital Art Lesson on WetCanvas. It's been a while since another lesson has been posted. I believe Roger is gone,(he will be missed), perhaps you can talk Scott into letting you take over the Digital Lessons.

Oh Pixelscapes, I do hope you will do lessons. I've been riding the fence on buying the Bryce program. I would for sure buy it if you do lessons.... pretty please..

I can help with Bryce, Poser, and Painter. My <a href="http://webpages.marcus-online.net/dhenton">website</a> has enough Bryce to choke a moose. You can also check out my review of <a href="http://www.wetcanvas.com/Products/Reviews/Software/Poser4">Poser 4</a>. What would you be interested in learning about in Bryce?

Not sure what folks want to learn in this area, but God knows our lesson section is sucking wind on digital art - Don? Jen? http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Cheers.

Allow me to cross-reference to my huge posts under the 'inkjet art' topic. I'm thinking of reformatting them for use as an article. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/Forum25/HTML/000019.html

As for Bryce... yes, I love it. I really do. I've been disappointed with MetaCreations lately, and it seems like they won't be developing Bryce further... BUT, it's a basically complete product nowadays, with few known bugs. I sort of got the feeling they were running out of features to add, anyway. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/wink.gif

If you want more good information about Bryce, including lessons (one of which is a tutorial by me!) I'd suggest visiting the Bryce Forum Gallery... http://www.bmacleod.com/brycelobby.html

That site should also give you a good overview of effects possible using Bryce. Check out the Select Gallery, particularly.

MetaCreations has a demo version of Bryce available for download. When the demo finishes rendering I believe it adds a watermark to the image... BUT, you can be sneaky and circumvent that by doing a screen capture at the last moment. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/wink.gif http://www5.metacreations.com/cgi-bin/downloads/index.cgi

It's great to know there's another Brycer out there! Did you see me on the CD-Rom for Bryce4? http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/biggrin.gif I was one of their 20 artists.

Jen

I did get to see your stuff on the CD. Very cool. I also ran across your river valley tutorial a long time ago and have tried that. That was quite handy, and one of the better ones, at that. As for Bryce's stability, its certainly reached it, but if I ever lose my CD, I don't know what I'll do.....

Hmmmm...
Well, you could always get somebody with a CD burner to duplicate the entire CD-Rom for you. It's for personal use and that's your backup copy, so...

I am VERY interested in learning computer graphics. I just recently received Paint Shop Pro by Jasc and have enjoyed using it with my limited knowledge in the area. Some lessons here would be much appreciated.

What is considered digital art? Is it painting on your computer or what?
I don't know how to attach a picture or I'd put one of mine on here and see if it qualifies.

Hi folks,

Reading pixelscapes' post dated 2/23/2000, I thought it might be helpful to update information on Bryce.

Metacreations hasn't owned Bryce for years, since spring 2000 when they sold it to Corel along with Painter and KPT.

It appears that DAZ (daz3D.com) now owns Bryce as they have it listed in their software section: DAZ Bryce 5.5 for $109 U.S.

DAZ Software - DAZ Bryce 5.5 (http://www.daz3d.com/shop.php?op=itemdetails&item=3300&cat=46)

The Metacreations link pixelscapes provided to download a demo version of Bryce no longer works. In fact, if you try to go to the Metacreations home page, you'll be redirected to http://www.viewpoint.com/pub/index.html . Viewpoint, as I recall, is the new company name since shortly after Metacreations decided to sell their graphics software and go in a different direction.

My how time flies, and software companies too! ;)
