This is a piece I am working on for my church. My main concern at this point is whether or not i have captured the lighting and depth that I need. Lemme know what you think! :)
what's the white at the bottom of the valley going to be?

I feel like the color tone changes too abruptly in the middle area.
Pastels in the distance then all of a sudden it is greens and golds..
Maybe you can tie them together if you mix some of the pastel colors with the gold in the middle section to make a medium transitional highlight.
I think it is the yellow/gold highlight that needs to be adjusted, it wouldn't be the same tone near and that far into the distance. You might even need to have 4 tone changes for that distance but 3 at least.

I just got a painting book from the library and it has a photo of the original painting in it.
A gorge in the Mountains by S.A. Gifford.
The original is much more misty/foggy soft and gradually fades more and more in the distance.
the white area will be a lake and then a small river in the bottom of the valley only showing in small bits.
