View Full Version : Lone Gull : C&C?

I'm planning to frame the seagull I did for June's Animal challenge. I ordered a custom mat & picked out a frame. I'd like some feedback C&C before I get it framed.

I don't want to overwork it, but I made a couple subtle changes- deepened the color around the gull to make it pop a bit more, and altered the waterline a bit, and added a little violet to the shading on the gull. Any other suggestions?
As always, thanks!

This looks great, I like how the Gull is walking into the painting, this keeps the viewer viewing the image from left to right.

Painting fun

I think blending a little shadow at the top of the legs into the body would be a good idea. The legs look as if they were 'added on'. I would also put a light(and I mean very light) glaze of warmer yellow or orange on the beak to make it stand out a little against the sea foam. Otherwise, I love this and it will look great framed.

Pat, I'd brighten and darken the bill and increase the amount of red on it, basically just to take the 'white' out of the colour.

Thanks, Gary, Chammi, & Greg.
I'll work on the bill & legs a bit more. Appreciate your input.
