View Full Version : SideSaddle - ink & graphite - WIP

06-13-2003, 09:05 AM
Here is a drawing I am working on. Size is about 8" by 10" on 110lb paper. Used a brush pen for the ink and 4b and hb pencils. Trying to get this finished for our local Rodeo tomorrow but I don't think that will happen. This is a close-up of a saddle photo I took last year. All comments WELCOME!!! :D:)

PS: Will cross-post in the Drawing & Sketching forum :D

Yeehaa ? or Yahooo !

Great work ! G.R.E.A.T. !

It is curious that you work first on dark parts

and funny that you sign at the beginning

THANKS Cyrille!! I like to work on my darks first because I find it easier to gauge the mid tones against it. I really don't sign the work first. I just digitally put my name on most work I post over the Internet :D:)

THANKS for commenting Axl!!! :D:)

Ohhhhh! I so agree with oldthumbs.... I love how you are doing this one. I couldn't imagine how you were going tackle all that scroll work and now I do..... one step at a time.
It's just lovely Murray:clap:

This really is a great piece of work. Your eye for detail is very good. How long have you been working on this?

06-22-2003, 02:54 PM
THANKS for commenting Ray, Chris and Charissa!! :D:)

I have around 14 hours in this so far. I'm thinking I have about another six or so for the upper left part of the saddle, just because it is the more detailed of the drawing.

Oh Wow! This is soooooo gorgeous!!! That tooled leather looks so real!!!!
I have a horse magazine that has a picture of a saddle in it. It's the whole size of the page. I thought maybe one day it might be fun to draw it. I could take pics of our saddles but they aren't as nice. On the other hand, a worn saddle has some character to it, right? :D
