I am not sure what is wrong with this painting but I feel something is.
I know the textured canvas is causing me problems, wish I hadn't done that. What else? Thank you in advance for any comments/advice/feedback.

I think she is adorable. Now I see 'cold' robin. But I thought she could benefit from some suggestion of green and complementary blue sky in the background. Dreaming of Spring? You've got only two elements there, so adding the sun coming through fills things out.
If you want a chilly winter robin, maybe add some snow to the branches and the sun coming through.
I think some indication of his feet is needed.

Thank you so much for your input! I will give these things a try.

I love the rich orange and rugged brush strokes in your robin
Stephanie, and I totally agree with song bird.
Her suggestion gives the peace some needed depth to the grey
clouds, although it looks more like the moon light in a night sky
in her photo, which is great.
The light and blue coming through the clouds, and some little
bird talons under the robin would finish it off nice and quickly.
Happy painting :-)

Ok here she is with the recommended changes. I really think I messed it up with the snow....its too white. :( I know better darn it. Thank you for your help....I really appreciate it. :)

You could paint the snow off-white indeed, but I do like the addition of it. Because a robin is such a small bird, the snowflakes must be very very small (in comparison to the bird). But I guess it's very tricky to enlarge the flakes.
I would change the outcoming grey feathers on the left side or remove them. Furthermore I think the beak and the eye are in wrong position to each other. I hope I make myself clear.
But on the first place I see a charming, well-painted canvas in which the structures and brushstrokes do add coldness to it.

I think your robin & scene are super. She is a charming bird with luscious fuzzy feathers. The snow looks great to me and it feels chilly out!
