Picked up acrylics a week or two ago, have done three pieces with them so far.
Trying to work on texture and glazing mostly.

This is my first attempt with texture.
2ft by 3ft

my favorite of them
it just works
can we see a detail?

yea sure
ok i forgot to mention in my previous post that the dark line in the top left corner is just a shadow from leaf. Not part of the painting.

Heres a couple details, just to give you an idea of the texture in both the white area and the red.

I do really like this. My only suggestion would be not to have the two halves so evenly split (the black line is a bit too central for me). Rather, have the two halves a bit more varied in size, this way there is more space going on and it effects the way they interact with each other more.

Hi Stephan,

I am in l-o-v-e with texture - I find it brings some sort of "inner life" to a painting - plus, wonderful things happen when the paints plays with it!

I really like your piece - it is quite "bold". What did you use for texture?

Take care!

hey everyone
thanks for looking.

Amanda, you have a good point and when i was painting this I thought the same thing. Originally the seperation was suppose to be further up. But you know how sometimes the painting doesnt become what it was in your head.

Im pretty happy with the results... it depends on the day.

Thanks for the comments everyone

I love it! Anyone who knows my personal tastes will guess what first caught my attention...the rich red! What kept my attention, however, was the texture and that unexpected bit of blue. It's a well executed painting, in my opinion. I actually didn't notice that the two parts were close in size until Amanda pointed it out...probably because you brought the red up a bit on the right side, so it breaks up the even feel to me.
