You need to look into fashion and hair design. This is an excellent piece, showing style, poise and much patiences in your line work. Please please please start working with a rapidograph or other such mechanical pens. Your work is too good to be done in plain pen that will not hold up to the test of time.

This is a very interesting style of ink work. I don't think I have seen anything quite like it. I like it.
06-10-2003, 12:13 PM
I don't suppose I could con you into giving us a close up detail scan of some of the pen strokes could I? :D
06-10-2003, 12:17 PM
wow. Do you have a closeup on the hair, the low res kinda ruins it.

Hey Roy. What beautiful line work. You really make the hair and the fabric look like it has a shine to it. This is really nice.
06-17-2003, 11:17 AM
I love your use of line to create form.
06-18-2003, 08:45 AM
WOW! what more can I say, WOW!
06-18-2003, 12:54 PM
WOW! I'm quite new to the whole pen and ink process but I love the astonishing tonal qualities you have achieved here. I printed off this piece as an example of technique. Could you possibly post a close up of a detail such as a loop of the bow or the hair so those of us newbies can really see the individual pen strokes? I'd really appreciate that. Your rendering just ook my breath away!

thanks a lot people! i'm overwhelmed by your kind comments:D it's funny but i did this drawing so long ago i really don't know how i did it-maybe i should do some more. hey mikki - i don't know if you just saw the first drawing but if you travel through the replys ,i did post a closer up of the hair -i hope that helps. trust me though,i'm no technique expert or anything but i'm flattered by your comments-thanks!...roy

Roy, if you'll forgive an old woman who wears purple...I was so excited when I saw the image, I printed it and went right to posting my reply. Now I have found your close-up and am studying it intently. Thanks. I really admire your style with this. Great control!
