This one needs more work really, but I'm losing interest, and I don't want to muck up what there is, so I'm putting it away for a later look. If I stand back far enough, I like it.;)
The scan has cut off the edges a little.
Sepia pigmented ink, white gouache, on mi tientes pastel paper. Brush and dip pen.

It's lovely Chris..... I really like the combination of paper colour, Sepia and the gouache. They give a lovely depth and warmth to your pictures. The reflections are stunning as usual and you can almost feel the softness of the material. Great job:clap:  :cat:

It's stunning!!! Well done - C-J ;)

Wow Chris, it's really very good! I love the bottles reflections and the darks you have obtained. You are getting better and better with the sepia ink and gouache, I told you before but I have to repeat it.
06-08-2003, 06:28 PM
WOW! I don't think I you need to work on anything.

Just sepia? Great form in the bottles, I love this as-is. Even my sweetie peeking over my shoulder was impressed!

If I was the kinda boy who blushed easily, I'd be blushing right now. ;)
Hmmm, maybe I am....
Yes. The pastel paper is coloured, and that does most of the work, I think.

Wow!! Absolutely Fantastic Chris!!  You have captured the reflection in those gorgeous bottles beautifully - to say the least! I echo everyone else here and add my own Stunning!
Cheers Dahzl. :D

This is absolutely beautiful. Don't change a thing, and continue to post. I love this.

You have very strong areas, and those that you have just decided to not work on any more. My advice is to put it aside where you can see it for a few weeks, or however long it takes you to feel the inspiration again. I do this quite often, and some pieces have remained unfinshed for months, but I do not work on anything serious until the inspiration has built to a pressing level. You have a really good start on this, you find yourself stuck, but you are not committed to finish it right now. :)

Thanks Orchid and Sassy!

Great work as usual, Chris! Those highlights in the bottle are just perfect...makes everything vibrate with life! Good job!

I agree with Sassy, if your getting bored with it, set it aside for a while. to good to let go. If you feel it is unfinished, it will come in time. If you go back later and like it, then it was allways fine.

Thanks Mel and Bob.
I would rather leave it alone than overwork it - underdone is what I prefer. If it really does 'vibrate', then that's great (special thanks for that, Mel:))

This is such a beautiful drawing. (I love bottles/glass anyway)
Since I am thinking about getting into something in addition to my pen and Black ink I really am inspired by your use of colors here!

Thanks Eamon and Carol(?)!
I certainly get inspiration from a lot of posts on WetCanvas, so it's nice to know someone gets something from one of my posts.

Very nice piece Chris as usual. You have a way of capturing that transparent look to the glass that lets you actually look thru to the other side. I love the shadowing and highlights on the bottles and I love the look of the toned paper thru the ink. Gives it a lot of depth.

I agree with others, the reflections are excellent. I also like the monochromatic sepia color.

Thanks Sharon. Drawing/painting the tones etc that I see seems to work fairly well for me when doing glassy things.
Thanks too Jerry.

:D Seejay, This one is also excellent!
