Here are the lone three pieces I started on site in Tuscany. I will do a bit of finishing on a couple in the studio or just use them as the basis for larger pieces. All are acrylic on linen, 12x16.

BTW: I highly recommend the new camera I just bought, Canon Powershot G1. Even hand held, it gives tremendous clarity with it's 3.3 megapixels. The best part is the 1 gig mini hard drive it has so I can shoot over 400 pictures at raw resolution for the highest quality, then offload to my computer or a CD. Most cameras only take 16-128mb on sticks or cards which means if it is the only camera you take on a trip, you have to take quite a number of cards (excepte for the Sony Mavica which uses a mini CD but it's resolution is much less overall.)

Thanks so much Linda & Animal. I appreciate your feedback.

The camera runs about $799 at stores, but I found the best price at Marine Park Camera in NY, 800.360.1722 at $659.

It comes with a 16mb compact flash card, AC charger, lens cap, cable to TV & computer, remote, rechargable battery, both Mac/PC ready, software and Photoshop LE. The 1 gig microdrive added another $490, and I got another battery and a filter kit (which you don't need right away. Total package with shpg $1385.

But if you just get the camera and start with the 16mb card included, it's only $659 + shpg. The only other item you'd need to use the flash card on your computer if you don't want to use the cable port is a PCI card adapter which speeds up getting the pics to your computer.

You can read an excellent extensive review and how to use the camera at: http://www.steves-digicams.com/g1.html

The camera is totally manual or totally automatic and anything in-between. Pics are easy to delete and it has a LCD screen.

Lots of other great cameras out there, so shop around. It can get very confusing, so take your time before ordering anything. The lower resolution cameras (what used to be top of the line) prices have dropped like a rock with dozens of new models are coming out all the time. This Canon is new and replaces one of it's own large models of 2 years ago.

Have fun shopping!

Great work Diane!!!!! I like the first best as well. Neat compositional dynamics in that one.

I have the Sony Mavica FD90....great camera, but...you are right about those floppies!

I love the light in the third painting -- very Mediterranean!

Searchers after digital cameras might also try www.cameraworld.com (http://http://) . I would recommend that you do your research on the website, but call to order because the salespeople can give you a better price than the website offers. Weird...

I've been waiting to see these Diane! Looks like you had a great time. So much to see so many paintings to be done. Wonderful stuff here. I'm going to break the trend and call the second one my favorite, but believe me, it's not an easy decision! Thanks! http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif

http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/eek.gif These are GREAT! I especially like how you have done the foliage, the water and the skies. I really like the colours you have used. How much does the Canon Powershot G1 cost? http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/wink.gif http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/angel.gif

I like your pieces very much, especially that with a boat. I'm painting a series of boats now too in different weather. Guess you had a lot of fun during your trip.

Hi Carly & Julia,

Thanks for your messages! One of the fun parts of painting these was that I had to paint quickly. No time for detail, but the action came through. The day I painted the boats they were sailing by so fast it was hard to decide which to capture. Sunlight danced on the water and on the sails...so different than sitting in my office http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/wink.gif It was such a nice place to be, if just for an hour.

I am a watercolorist.... ...in the process of being "won over"...lol... to acrylics. It's sure a pleasure to see acrylics pulling off something as beautiful as you have done here. Keeps me optimistic and inspired about their potential!

Beautiful paintings Diane! Clean colours, something I wish I could achieve.

Have visited your photos site and I am very impressed with your photos. Oodles of material for painting, and I am sure these are only a small selection of the ones you have taken.

I am heading for Tuscany at the first opportunity.
