Cheryl,
This is off State Road 40. A neat little spot I had never noticed before. I was on my way home from judging a show and decided to come home via the Nat Forest route into Ocala. It was that smokey, late time of day when the purple and blue shadows are prevalent. It's 20x36 inches , oil on masonite.

Linda,

This has got to look like "something" in person!!! It looks good here on the web, but at 24x36...I can only imagine.

Beautiful!!

Linda, i hope that you don't mind that i've reduced the size of your original image by 30%.It's much easier to see this way and to read comments on. I will put the full 100% back if you wish. Let me know.
This is a spectacular depiction of my beautiful area! Thanks so much for sharing it. I've seen this scenery at this time of day on many occasions and really appreciate the vibrancy that you've captured! It is truly one of the things that can be even more appreciated when viewed through the eyes of another who shares enthusiasm for the often un-noticed splendor. Yes, the atmoshpere at that time is rather 'smokey' but unmistakenly stark in contrasting values and you've said it well! I love the strong evening sun bringing the warm tones of the grass to light and working to create the dramatic shadows and darks of the east at the same time. Wonderful!

Cheryl,
I'm so glad you reduced it for me. I never know how to do that. It looks so much better now. I thought of you when I was painting it. I would love for you to tell me some good Marion County places to paint. I often paint down there.
