It's been awhile since I posted here. I've been doing ATC's mainly but I have done some pages in my journals. Somw journals are more writing than art but I do love the art and go back to those journals more than the others.

These are some pages I've done this year.

Strathmore multimedia journal 8 x 5"

Playing with inks.

Yes, the red underneath is really cool. I especially liked the first one, with the red-orange underneath sky blue.

I love the second one, the texture of the trees is brilliant.

Wonderful journal pages. Very cool experiments with the warm underpainting behind the trees.

Two I've been wanting to do for some time. I have a box of things on my bookshelf of some things my Dad collected.

I sort of cheated on the dog tags by doing a rubbing with pencil on tissue paper. After glueing onto the page I added more colour.

I kind of liked the empty space around the sketches.

Yes, it's a nice technique for organizing the visual space on a page. I often do it when I'm drawing small objects that don't need a context to be meaningful. Beautiful sketches.

Thanks for all your comments.

A few days ago I did a portrait in pencil - 4B - from imagination. I decided that to improve my portraiture I need to remember more how faces go so did one without copying anything.

Then today I was looking at various art sites and found a comment by another artist on Nick Bantock's blog. I thought of my b&w sketch and went and added colour.

What a great group of images you have here! I love the expressive landscapes and botanicals, and really appreciate the historical item sketches as well - the aviator goggles and dog tags.
