Sunny;
Wonderful shots. That last one looks like a greeting card! Beautiful.

My bird book says that Sandhill Cranes "sometimes appear 'rust' because of iron stains from the water of tundra ponds." hmmmm- cheaper than Lady Clairol!

Really nice shots Sunny.
That must be some rusty water! The crane is totally colored. Kind of a nice tint. Maybe I should try that tint for my Hair??? LOL Just dunk my head in a rusty creek looking for fishies and froggies.
Mom-doesn't like you following her and her little ducking.
Agree that the swan is well composed, nice interest with the waterlilllies and grasses.

Great shots Sunny! He has the shape of a sandhill, perhaps he's an immature one, although I have seen one like this. They do have a little red patch on the head.

That last image is so pretty.so beautifully composed and the exposure looks spot on.

The 3rd one got me laughing, momma's really keeping her eye on you!

Periscope up on the 2nd image, hehe.

KT-Thank you for the compliment! I'm tickled for praise coming from you! I should have read my book it says the same thing about the rust color & of course we have a high iron ore content in our water!
Thanks Margie-my friend & I had the same idea-the new henna rinse!
Ozzie-aren't you sweet... I too love that expression on Mama's face & I was getting a little close! Thank you so much for such nice comments. I'm pleased that you liked them cuz you do birds so well! The swan one was my fave too!:D

Sunny, what great shots. The Sandhill Crane is just beautiful, such an elegant bird. The Goose and Gausling are so sweet, but the last one of the Swan is just gorgeous.
You must have had a great time playing the "Great White Hunter" with your camera.

Thanks for sharing.

You must have had a great time playing the "Great White Hunter" with your camera.
It's sooo funny you said that cuz I really felt like it was an adventure! It is a wild place of several hundred thoudand acres! So it wasn't like a zoo or park where you go where pointed-you have to drive for miles & keep a sharp eye peeled. It was grand fun! Thanks for peeking-I have so many pics & I am trying to restrain myself!:D

How's the diet coming? I'm doing pretty good.:D

Great I can't wait to see more. I love nature and seeing these wonderful shots is such a treat.

I go in this evening for my first weigh-in so I'll know more then.
I'm sure I must have lost some weight because I couldn't get to far away from my bathroom all week. LOL

That cabbage soup is powerful.....

Wow - I would never have guessed that was a sandhill crane. Yes... a crane. Great shots Sunny. I once took a picture of a sandhill crane - that was annoyed at how close I was to him, that he decided to almost peck a whole into my camera lens. When they're angry, they are very loud and are somewhat violent.

Lisa-This one was a good distance away maybe 150 feet. It had a baby hiding in the brush so I wasn't getting close. They are big birds & I don't want to get pecked!LOL! Were you frightened? I would have peed myself!!!!:D

Correction-Seney National Wildlife Refuge is only 95,000 acres-my mistake but it seems humungous!

I was shocked more than frightened. I was so proud of myself at how slowly I approached it and how tame it was. It was watching me the entire time. He did actually give me a warning with a loud noise he made... but I thought that was normal. When he lunged at me, I jumped a foot!!! Here is the picture I got.

P.S. Mine was in captivity. I would have loved to have taken this in the wild like yours.

Lisa-I wish mine was so detailed and crisp as this but my camera won't do distance very good. I need a scope or great lens but I'm hoping for a better camera so I don't want to buy stuff for this one!:D

Sherl-I had that feeling when I was there, it was like a camo attempt! The Canadian Geese all had goslings! And this one's were in the grass under it!:D
